Seedling trouble.

My seedling stretched pretty bad, and when it fell it caused this bend, I know it's probably nothing but it just looks so severe. Any need in being concerned?

Also I noticed that one of the tap roots on my other plant doesn't have any leaves, it's just the little white root. Is that plant dead or is there still a chance. It's an auto, don't know if that matters.

Yesterday my seedlings started laying down from being stretched. I'm not entirely sure what caused them to lay down but I had my theories. So, after propping them up with more potting soil, I brought them back in. They seem to be doing fine and although they didn't get a severe bend like yours, I suggest doing the same thing. Propping them up with any suggested methods, keep attending to it, and hope for the best.

How deep did you plant the seeds into the mix? If you fail to plant them deep enough the stems will start to lean as the true leaves appear. The should be planted between 1/4-1/2". I would go with soveregin's suggestion and VERY carefully prop it up then add another 1/4-1/2" of mix. Their are methods one can use to produce short stocky stalks by adjusting lighting and nutes. Also,if you are using a fan especially one sitting on the floor make sure it is not blowing your little ones over. I have used small fans to correct leaning but only at the very start.

What is your reasoning for only using 1/8". Do you plant directly into your medium Or hydrate, pop, them in water or on a paper towel first. I am seriously not being a smart ass but please explain why you feel a depth of 1/8" is better than the 1/4"-1/2" that has been recommended by every cannabis cultivator I've every read or spoke with.

I had a plant do that and I grew it out and it hermied and all the leaves grew strange, it was a waist of time. just start a new seed.

A cannabis seed will sprout sitting on top of the soil, or for that matter in no soil at all. The reason I would recommend a planting depth of over 1/8" is that it is my goal to grow every plant with me doing as little as possible ( the marijuanna plant knows how to grow herself far better than i do). Your starting medium will dry out from top to bottom so at a depth of only 1/8" your medium will need almost constant supervision. The first roots your seedlings produce are not strong or long enough to anchor the top- heavy seedlings from falling over, so the extra 1/8" may not seem like enough to make a difference but to a 10cm tall seedling it can literally be a life saver.

Thanks for the advice. I'll start a new seed for the one that was a bad seed, but I'm going to wait out the one with the bend. I put some more dirt on top and propped it up, the leaves look right on it so I'm hoping it may still be salvageable.

For the stretched seedling... prop it up and bury the stem in dirt. Dont cover any leaves tho. Repot if nessesary. If thats not enough use a stick and tie it to the seedling to hold it up.

Your light may be to far away which is causing the stretch. Bring it closer. If you are using hps and cant go any closer due to heat issues try using florescents or cfls until your seedlings are established. Good luck wit it...

Yea that's pretty much what I would have done. As long as it has not been completely cut into it has the ability to survive it is a very small likely hood that will happen but it is woth trying even if its a hermi or dies you can gain valuable experience. So document very thing you do to it..take pictures. Personally I would go ahead and isolate it from the rest and strat a new one to replace it.. I even have a cornie little R&D box set up that I keep the screw up in and they have taught me much and some even yielded beautiful buds..

I had the same thing happen to one of my seedlings, stretched, fell, bent. I propped it up and left it for a week and unfortunately it just got worse and worse. Then I cut it at a little below the cotyledon, put some rooting powder on the cut stem and put it in rock wool. Kept it wet and it grew new roots. I would not suggest this unless you are giving up on it but it did work for me and is growing nicely as we speak.

I wonder if that was too much stress for your plant. I really want to know if it turns into a herme.

The plant is really young at this point and i wont change to 12 12 for like 3 or 4 weeks i think it will be fine.

Also this is this the same way you clone a plant and cloning doesnt produce insanely high number of hermies but only time will tell.
