Some interesting observations to be sure.
There are more and more top end breeders sending out notice's with there gear to NOT soak their seeds as if you do they will not honor any guarantee !!
Some waters have little to no dissolved o2 in them and the seeds can "drown" rather easy. H2o2 can help this! NEVER use distilled water to pop beans - NO dissolved o2! Senile Fungus is quite correct!
I still like the papertowel method and I have spouts in 24-48 with the bulk at 24! Just keep the container at around 85F and boom beans. If the bean is cracked and the tap is out - I plant'em !
The thing is you have to find the method that works the best for you. They all work and staying consistent in each attempt is key!
Sadly, I'll bet your beans are dead.
H2o2 and kelp extract are things my mother used when soaking beet seeds for better seed yields. Beets are real tough beans to pop! She would never soak longer then 24hrs - NEVER.
What can I say - "Old school" at it's best there!!
Good luck
