I no this debate has probably rumbled on before.
I have only ever used clones to grow indoors and to be honest i have not been overly impressed with the results.
About 30g per plant.
I am curious to no weather it would be better to grow from seed ?? And would i get a better result

Also how much more time would it take ?

doing my first grow from seed now.....not quite to flower yet, but the plants are big and i expect a good yeild. i will say the clones are quicker

Clones are not that much quicker than seeds. If you purchase clones that are already rooted then you are only ahead by about 2 weeks. If they are not rooted it takes abut 2 weeks for the roots to come in, then they will start to grow. I have always started with seeds until recently, curious about clones, I purchased 4 clones. I also have 4 plants from seed going along side the clones, they are all in flower. The seed plants are large full plants/bushes, the clones are just a main stem with fan leaves, a few nodes, and some hairs so far. Personally, I prefer seeds. Between clones and seeds I see no big savings on time. There will always be a veg time (4-6 weeks) and a flower time (8-10 weeks) no matter what. Both seeds and clones need to have both, my opinion no huge advantage in cloning, except maybe saving some money if you clone from your own mother.

This all comes from my own experience and is only my opinion, so for those hard core cloners out there, be nice.....peace

It is best to do both IMO. You find out what strain you really like, what fits your needs and then clone it. Granted clone may not take any less time but you are sure of the genetics and can refine the needs of the strain to optimize your yield.

Every strain I have grown seems to have a different tolerence for nutes strenght, PH fluctuations and temp variations. Once you know what a plant will thrive in, you can give it exactly what it wants and hopefully that will increase yield.

My impression is the main advantage is knowing what you are getting ie strong mother with good genetics then you will get the same plant from the clone.
I would agree there is a money savings over seeds.
I dont see a real time savings over seeds But I do think as I get better set up I do want to incorporate cloning into my plans
mainly to be able to replicate a few really good plants. good luck

The thing is though Whilst my plants are in veg there is 1 that looks good and i think i would like to clone, then when i switch to flower a plant that i havent noticed thrives.
And people tell me that you cant clone during flower.

So if i was to clone myself and pick a plant to clone i would rather do it when i see what its going to flower like.

Do you no of a way i could do this or do i have to clone a plant that looks good during veg.

i have all ways used clones for many reasons. I like the idea that i can chose from my best plant growing. I like clones when I CLONE them so i know the heardyness of the strain i wont to continue and the peace of knowi its female. i am growing in doors and have the luxery cof veging my clones under cfl's using a dripsystem. I did just orderd so seed (feminized) from holland for particular strains i wont and they were expensive, 5 seed for 25 euros, about 30 bucks and i pay $15 for a clone or buy 2 get one for free. so idont know were the savings is besides maybe time

I have been looking at feminised seed myself.
i am going to make a seperate room for mothers and clones at the moment i just have 1 room for growing.
As this is the best hobby i have ever had i would like to be good at it 1 day. So i think the future is 2 rooms.
What do you think ?

in my oppinion if you cut your clones deep in to flower then your going to end up with on massive ass plant after she verts back. your yield will be off the hook from that one plant. starting from seed you will have to top it a few time to get it to bush out like the clone from a flowering plant. either way it depends on the grower and ther ways of doing things also.

I have just been reading about them going really bushy and being difficult to root.
I have never grown from seed, so i think i will try it.
Also before i start my next grow i will set up another room to keep mothers and to veg small plants.

Ive done both, i prefer clones, you know exactly what you are getting each time, even if you have a pack of feminized seeds its going to be different each time you grow one. As far a bushy vs lanky i think that just depends on strain. Ive grown some monster clones out that towered over other plants. And clones save a lot of time. I can cut i clone and plant a seed at the same time. In 2 weeks the clone has a nice root system and the seed is just past seedling stage nowhere near ready for flower like the clone is. Just my opinion though, but seeds are cool because you can have like 1000 of them hiding in a can.

That is the thing. At the momonet i have to buy my clones. So when i have another room i will do then myself.
But should i start from a seed to get my mother or should i just pick a good clone and clone it again.
I have never done seed before and i think it would be better to get a mother from seed.

their is no comp to the luxury of female seeds. Nice! I started this round from clone, Unfortunately some kinda ph disease, I will have to call it, hit some of my rooted clones. I fixed the problme sorta but I had to germ another female seed to make up the number diference. It sucks that shit happens, lol. I am lucky I had the female seed to germ.

If its a mom then you want it to be the best, if its a cut then you know it should be, if its a seed you never know. I would say the mother you are getting your clones from should be better than 4/5 seeds you grow out. Because if its a mom then somebody should have already gone through the trouble of sorting out the best female. So i would say if you dont have the room to grow out a few seeds to find the one you like then go with clone.

It looks like after reading all the great replys i will stick to clones.
1. To save a bit of time.
2. I no ill be getting a good plant. And it saves me messing around trying to find a good mother out of a pack of seed that cost as much as clones.

if at any time u want to start from seeds always have a few clones so you have something to harvest.
