for a pot forum, many don't know the politics of AK. they decriminalized marajuana. less than an oz in your home is ok. that is her state. of all 4 candidates, her state is the only one that has decriminilized pot. just check norml's website and look at all 4 states.

it is also funny that you make fun of he way she talks. looks like some people can't get out of their own driveways. got to a different part of the country and listen to how people talk. you looks like ignorant fools making fun of the way somene talks. I sure wouldn't want you to represent me, "haha, look at the way the japanese prime minister talks, it is sooooooooooooo funny."

this is america, not 1933 Nazi Germany.

give me an fn break and stick to the topic a hand.

"white flag of surrender" fucking money.

man im telling you i had a knot in my stomach before she came on after all the hoopla in the press sayin she was a dumbass

she really knocked it outa the park though with a wink an a smile man! shes the real deal wether you agree with her opinions or not shes not fake at all.
If you think a well rehearsed and coached delivery of a very few sound bites devoid of any true intellectual involvement is the "real deal" then she is your candidate. As a thinking man my interpretation would be she offered very little in the way of qualitative or detailed answers. She used the most basic vernacular in an attempt to make sure we all realize she is just one of us...but I wouldn't vote for "joe six-pack american" for any public office let alone the 2nd highest office in the land. Just because any fool CAN be elected does not mean any fool SHOULD be elected. After 1 1/2 hours of evading answering most of the questions asked of her and thouroughly wearing out her line about being a "Maverick" Biden handily served her ass up about that maverick BS to which she was incapable of delivering a real response. Look, if you are looking for reasons to validate your choice of voting republican then her not crashing and burning is probably enough for you to claim her mediocre performance as a victory, and for her it truly was. As for myself I don't like being pandered to with winks and retarded catch-phrases, I see her for what she is and she will not get my vote.

Your question completely represents the logic the Mccain campaign used in prepping Palin for this debate. They accurately understood her substantial and well publicized inability to articulate qualitative answers to important questions (thanks Katie Couric) so they armed her with sound bites that pander to mostly morons (Hey I'm just like you, Joe six-pack american, I'm the new energy, I'm a Maverick). In the end a "win" is a performance that is deemed better than the opponents(?) perhaps so people looking for Palin to only not meltdown ought to be pleased with her performance. People looking for well articulated and qualitative answers to the questions that represent a small sample of what a vice president and president will be expected to deal with in a higly competent fashion probably saw right through that transluscent joe-six-pack-maverick veneer carefully employed to conceal Palin's near complete ineptitude.

Killed him? no
She held her own, but in now way killed him.
When it came to facts and figures Biden had her by the short and curlys.

One interesting thing I did notice was her trying to be folksy, it made her sound like the Mother from the cartoon "Bobby's World" "don't cha know".

sorry guys that she didnt change and hide who she realy was for you, so the folksy thing was an act you guys think??

thats just how the woman is, i know you guys are used to all your politition to be super fake, i.e. Hillary clinton, John kerry

and if you look in history the best presidents we have had were not, dare I say "elietes"

but regular old folks like abraham lincon and ronald regan inteligent people. to try to demean her intelegence because she talks like a human is disingenuous

if anything we can use the harsh and dare I say "paniced" opinions on this forum as a barometer that she busted it is outa the park

i gotta say i dont think anyone could have handled her performace better than Joe Biden and he gained points from me as a very cool and nice guy, he reminds me of cary grant for some reason

man even he was impressed guys comon, this was the most respectable and courtious debate on the national stage I have ever seen

makes me proud to be an american how they both acted

this is the america Im talkin about.

"Say it aint so Joe, there you go pointing backwards again":bigjoint:

stop pointing backwards guys this is an election about our future:bigjoint:

Palin: "Oh, yeah, it's so obvious I'm a Washington outsider. And someone just not used to the way you guys operate. Because here you voted for the war and now you oppose the war. You're one who says, as so many politicians do, 'I was for it before I was against it' or vice versa."

You can't get a firm hold into the future if you don't look backwards. Those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it....

And it was an act, sorry.
Actually I think that the Mother on Bobby's World act was a bit patronizing.

Biden Tells 14 Lies During VP Debate
Amanda Carpenter
Friday, October 03, 2008

Senator Joe Biden lied at least 14 times during the vice presidential debate according to those counting at John McCain’s presidential headquarters.

Tucker Bounds, a spokesman from GOP presidential candidate John McCain’s campaign said in a statement, “"Joe Biden graduated from his trademark verbal gaffe to outright lie in tonight’s debate.”
McCain’s blogger-in-chief Michael Goldfarb chronicled the 14 lies HERE.

On the foreign policy front, Biden challenged Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin when she said Barack Obama’s pledge to meet with any foreign leaders, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, without precondition “goes beyond naivete and goes beyond poor judgment.”

Biden lectured Palin, “That's just simply not true about Barack Obama. He did not say he'd sit down with Ahmadinejad.” During the YouTube Democratic primary debate last July Obama was asked if he would meet the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea without “precondition” during his first year in office.

“I would,” he replied.

Biden appeared to attack Obama for making that very statement in August 2007. While Biden was challenging Obama for the Democratic nomination for president Biden said he would not support such a pledge. “Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was elected president?” he said in an appearance at the National Press Club. “Absolutely positively no."

Five of the lies Biden told were related to tax and energy votes. During the debate Biden adamantly claimed McCain voted the same way as Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama did on a vote to raise taxes on those making $42,000 a year. The legislative record shows McCain was not present in the Senate for either of those votes and is recorded as “not voting.”
The RNC also takes issue with Biden’s assessment Palin supports a “windfall profits tax” and Biden’s claim McCain voted against alternative energy 23 times. The independent Factcheck.org has previously stated when Obama and other Democrats made similar charges about the 23 votes “they’re overstating the case.” The other lies detailed by Goldfarb were related to Biden’s characterization of McCain’s healthcare plan, stances on bank deregulation and the $700 billion financial bailout that recently passed the Senate.

CNN and CBS Release Highly Misleading Polls Regarding VP Debate

According to most media accounts, last night's vice presidential debate was a thriller. Sarah Palin received much of the focus due to her lackluster performances in recent television interviews. But I stated in a blog post prior to the debate that pundits should not dismiss Palin, because many of her failings of late could result from her lacking the experience engaging the national media. Also, many Republicans said that Palin had been overly handled but that they were now "freeing Sarah." Well, she certainly seemed more comfortable, poised, and well versed last night, just like she did in some of her earlier outings. Biden pulled in a great performance as well -- given his tremendous experience.

Several polls have emerged since the debate which try to tell viewers "who won." All of these polls are hopelessly flawed.

CNN/Opinion Research
CNN declares on its website that "Debate Poll Says Biden Won, Palin Beat Expectations." The specifics of the poll show that 51% of those polled thought that Biden did better, while 36% gave the nod to Palin. But the poll does not disclose the party affiliation or candidate preferences of the individuals surveyed. Evaluating performance in a debate that lacked any real "knockout" punch will inevitably turn on partisan preferences. So, this poll is absolutely useless without information concerning the ideology and politics of the individuals evaluating the candidates.

This same problem plagued CNN's polling of the presidential debate. Then, the headlines declared Obama the winner, and the national media reprinted the results widely. But if you actually read the full article, rather than the headlines as many people do, the pollster actually conceded that the survey polled far more Democrats than Republicans and that if one adjusted for party affiliation, the result was a "tie." Remarkably, the latest CNN poll does not give us any information regarding the party affiliation or candidate preferences of those surveyed. It simply declares Biden the winner.

CBS News
CBS News also released a poll concluding that Biden won the debate. On the surface, this poll seems to avoid CNN's mistake of not telling the reader the candidate preferences of the individuals polled. Why? The poll purports to provide the opinions of "uncommitted" voters.

Well, like a good lawyer, I read the fine print, and I found that uncommitted includes voters who are truly undecided and voters who have already chosen a candidate, but who "could still change their minds." So, some of the individuals polled are already leaning towards a candidate. The poll fails to provide a breakdown of their choices.

Studies show that people tend not to change their minds this late in an election cycle. So many of these so-called uncommitted individuals are probably sold on a candidate and probably thought that candidate won the debate. Because CBS News does not reveal what portion of the uncommitted voters actually preferred a candidate or the party affiliation of those polled, it is difficult to isolate bias in this survey. Accordingly, the poll is worthless.

Drudge Report and FoxNews
I have seen several websites citing to polls on the Drudge Report and FoxNews.Com. Unlike CNN and CBS, however, these media outlets have not officially released the results of the polls. The Drudge Report poll shows that Palin won by a landslide, while the FoxNews.Com polls shows that Biden won.

This category is very easy to dissect, mainly because both polls are online surveys. First, the polls are just as bad as the CNN and CBS polls because they fail to provide information about the candidate preferences of those who participated. Also, web polls in general are highly biased and inaccurate. You have to own a computer to participate (which could exclude older or poor people). But more relevant in this instance, you have to read the particular web page that conducted the poll in order to vote. Also, it is commonly known that people often "flood" webpages that they usually do not visit in order to influence the results of online polls. Thus, these polls fail to provide random samples and are thefore easily dismissed.

So Who Really Won?
The debate was very interesting, and I think objective commentators, to the extent that such exist, would find that Palin exceeded expectations and connected better to voters in terms of her style, but that Biden was more seasoned and specific. Beyond that, the person you wanted to win probably won. So who needs the polls anyway?

Bib P, I have watched a lot of her past speeches as Governor and I have also looked at her past debates. It's an act, just like her cutesy winking at the cameras.

What she gains in her mannerisms, she lacks in substance.

I'm not as uninformed as you may think...

I haven't been on here much because I have been working.... I just walked into a 45K+ a year job.

Of course McCain's camp is going to say that Biden Lied, that is the nature of elections.
But that doesn't make it so.
Had you been looking at the fact checks this morning, there was a lot more truth to what Biden was saying than you or the McCain Camp is giving credit.

As far as Fox News and Drudge Report, Please  consider the source. Fox News has been cited many times for out right lies and misinformation than any other news source. Drudge, a cherry picking right wing news relay artist.

She came off as a soccer mom who loves her country. Thats all well and good if she wants to run for school board but we are talking about her taking the highest office in the land. She says she has foreign policy experience because she can see Russia? Guess what?

You are all now qualified as tactical nuclear warfare experts, thats how it works right?

Also the woman wants creationism taught in schools? Creationism has been proven in a court of law to be RELIGION mascerading as science, yet she has no problem teaching it with public money. On top of that she is holding to the Bush line of not talking to foreign leaders she doesn't like (I won't say dictators because Dubya had no problem with dictators he liked). How stupid of a policy is this, just don't talk to the people who don't like you? This is how wars get started people.

On top of all of this she had no idea what the Bush Doctrine was. Are you serious? This phrase was coined in 2003 to describe the preemptive war in Iraq (that her son is going to fight) but she has no idea what it is. At least pick up a fucking history book before you decide to throw your hat in the ring.....

i still don't get how "she won".
Partisan politics. I want my guy/girl to win so even if she deflects questions all night I am still going to say she one. I can be objective because if either of those tards ever becomes president, I am leaving. We are back to this:
