Feck that sucks bro :(

Dont even say that "M" word
Hey Boney, it's cool. They just showed up; I really thought our southern colleagues had a bigger problem with this, but heck, I need to upgrade the space and stop being so ghetto, so this will make me clean up the room. The infested plant had great buds, they were done, done done, so no harm. Now, I just need to keep my youngsters safe. I'll probably chop the last of the big girls tomorrow, just to get them done and out of the space. At least that way I'm only defending 3 flowering plants and 6 vegging plants... This is an opportunity, yeah, like a banking crisis.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Well, after a search and destroy mission, I have to report that I found NO spider mites anywhere.
No eggs, no webs, nothing.
I have the necessary magnification.
nothing.

They were only on the central cola of one plant that was so big I had to whack it up into three parts when I chopped it down yesterday. I need three or four more weeks to finish what I've got and then I can break everything down, fumigate and start over.
My buds are too big to spray now. If I see any more I'll try a little alcohol mist and see if that keeps them down. From the reading I've done, the reason some people have trouble getting rid of them is the eggs aren't killed by spray, so you have to treat again ten days after the first treatment.

I have enough bud to weather a storm like this:eyesmoke:

Its these little bugers, larve live in the soil very hard to spot.
Not sure if they will live in your medium?
:weed:
I think that's something else. Mites look rounder, more like tiny flesh-colored ticks. And their eggs are laid on the underside of leaves. They never live in the soil/medium as far as I know. They are upper canopy dwellers:weed:. Still no sign of them on any other plants.

I think I'll chop the last of my big three today; got some amber trichs going. This must not be my week though. One of my ballasts died last night so i'm down to one light right now. I called HTG this am and they are sending a new ballast and bulb. They are really great. While I was on the horn, I took the opportunity to buy a 3rd 600W ballast with a Sunmaster MH conversion bulb and a big parabolic reflector. And man, did they give me a deal as a frequent customer. That's going to replace my CFL veg setup which will now become the clone light.

Well, there has been no massive invasion of mites. I'm chopping the third plant of the original three today. I will also be weighing the plants I chopped ten days ago. I'm pretty sure I got close to 4 oz per plant. I'll confirm later.:weed::weed::weed:

Well, I came up short of 4. The official tally, trimmed and dried; 2 plants=217 grams. So a little over 7 oz. The one I chopped today should boost the average up.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Thanks boneman. I've been watching dagambler's grow too. He's got it down.

My next goal is to quit burning my plants. It just isn't productive. I have a new 600W MH coming tomorrow. The clones will be happy.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

I got a long ways to go brotha :D but i'm figuring it out... i'd be tickled pink if any of my plants yeilded 3.5 ounces like urs did! i have a MH conversion coming like yourself... for the clones once they get bigger.

Here's my new 600 MH and a 4 foot umbrella reflector with my moms and 4 little guys who just got their 5 gallon buckets. They will be going to bloom on April1.

This will be their new home, a 4 x 8 room with 8 feet of headroom. It will be lined with reflectix and hung with my two 600w hps lights. I'll be adding filtration by and by. When I get done with this, I'll be relocating and building my veg area (which is currently bloom).

I have three plants finishing up. One is purple and they are all a little stunted from the cold of Jan/Feb. They might have 1.5 oz a piece.

I hope to fill up my new bloom room with 10 5 gallon bucket plants. I just bought some Foxfarms perlite, which is way coarser and cleaner than anything I've gotten before. Also costs 50% more:dunce: I suspect I'll be watering more but the root zone O2 should be great.

Perfect as always man....rep of course...
Man you keep your lights so high up... Maybe I should start doing the same...
I am going to try a perlite 5 gallon grow because of you thanks bro

Thank you MoG!

I don't really keep the lights that high up. more like 20" above the tops. Those three plants have had a rough time with cold weather in the basement the past 6 weeks. The one in the back is almost black it's so purple (this is not a purple strain!)

I'm stayjng with the perlite, but I'm thinking of adding some vermiculite in because this Fox Farm perlite I'm using now has such a big chunk size it won't retain or wick moisture at all. But it's a great way of growing so far for me.

LOLOLOL. My zombie clone army will destroy everything! I'm planning on 12 plants in 5 gallon buckets for my next exploit. I'm going to let them get as big as possible before flowering which may mean not flowering until June. After I get as many clones as I need I'll flower my moms cause they'll be nice sized in a few more weeks.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Oh I didn't know you using the chunky...
I worked for a huge soil company called Fafard
http://fafard.com/?p=2

Man I learned every thing I know there.. I had ran a front end loader and push up piles of bark and turn them to break it down, then I would take it to hoppers that would go down a line wher it was flushed the mixed with goods, per, verm...etc

I also worked in their green house when I wasn't loading

Great job, horrible boss

I just bought the chunky stuff cause I saw it in a hydro store and, well, because it was brand name goods. I'm a consumertard. It's probably more suitable for a flood and drain table. Anyway, time will tell. I'lll probably go back to the finer grain.

You could learn alot in a job like that, but I bet you were hacking up shit from your lungs every morning with all the particulates you'd stir up.

Bosses suck.:fire:
