I disagree completely. The government could then use the excuse of "national security" for anything that they see fit. Think back to our wonderful, color coded, terror alert system that the Bush administration used every time the Idiot-In-Chief's approval ratings dipped.

We spy on EVERYONE. Presidents of other countries, as well as average americans. Everyone than can be spied on, is currently spied on.

If Apple makes a skeleton key, they will open any phone anytime. NOT just during an investigation. They can't just open one phone. The Feds want Apple to create a skeleton key to open all phones that use that OS.

A cop with a key to all phones. He'll be careful...

Michigan has already spent close to a million $ (from asset forfeiture, of course) on cell phone mimicry such as Stingray and Hailstorm. And they have mobile units.

How many cops do we know illegally access databases all the time. Remember that cop that wanted to cook and eat women? I wonder if he used discretion when accessing Police databases for stalking women to kill.

I applaud Tim Cook and Apple.

The feds can already unlock the phone. Don't believe otherwise. They probably have evidence and can't use it unless it was obtained legally.
Therefore the ruse Apple needs to provide a key

There is currently no skeleton key. They want a key for any phone. They are not asking for just this one phone to be unlocked

'no' to skeleton key..

I don't even do Facebook for this reason..I don't like the idea of someone collecting data..recently received spam from them asking to let them access my contact list to 'find more friends'.

Citizen's privacy is becoming obsolete. Rumor has it the government already has the capacity to listen to convos even when a cell phone is not in use but on. Unless we unite against these intrusive measures, we'll have 0 privacy. Atleast now we have around 35-40% IMHO.

Exactly, and well put.The FBI requested Apple to write software to unlock this one phone, but that software would create a backdoor on every I Phone in the world. Apple says an individual's rights outweighs government scrutiny, and Apples right. The government should not be allowed to enter anyone's cell phone or computer without a specific search warrant. They want to simply, by using the excuse of national security, have the ability access every cell phone in the fucking world. Fuck them, and the society they want us to live in.Good for Apple
