Should I top?

I have a girl that is growing in one stalk with very very tight node spacing and since she presex the entire thing is solid hairs. She is about 2ft tall ATM and covered in snowy trichs.
I don't really want to top it but I need a clone for momma plant since these were gifts.
I'm wondering if topping it will cause it to become leggy.

Does it have any developed lower branches that are a few inches long? I'd just take some of them. Usually by the third or fourth week I have like 8" lower branches to clone.

Edit. Just comprehended the post Instead of skimming over. Looks like it's one dominant cola with little side branching.

Ive topped autos a couple of days into pre flower with no issues. Just caused the lower growth to supercharge and the top kinda stalled out and only ended up with two 6" colas.

Pre-flower, you say.

Post a pic. I wouldn't top just to take a clone. Just find the freshest shoot from low on the plant and make it a clone. Only need about 3 inches to cut off. Just make sure it don't feel woody, make sure it's fresh and pulpy. Woody cuts are much slower at rooting
