should I use a 150watt hps or a T5 light?

my box is 29"w, 27"d, 6.5't i use a 250w hps i only use about half the height with just a little training. def go with a hps can get some decent airflow and you will be so happy you did. im trying a 200w floro for veg and i realy dont like it im def gonna get a 250mh for veg. hope this helps and good luck.

Those small hps have the ballast built in and that puts out heat too. The 2' T5ho are not 54w the 4' are.

I paid $90 for a 2bulb 4' with a decent ballast. You need more height and ventilation or CO2.

I am going with a 324 watt t-5 light and everything is doing great with much less heat and less power cost than hps. Someone is going to have to show me hps is the only way to go i am not sold on that idea yet.

And yes they are i have a 2' t5 that is 54 watt per bulb.

I am sure that anyone who trashes on T5s hasnt use them. Here is a little grow I did start to finish with T5s at about 5 weeks.

T's for veg..hps for 12/12..

a 430 philips son agro will have 30% blue and red and can do both...and about as hot as a big ass CFL.

can't beat T;s for veg overall.

I already have enough problems with heat where i live so that is why i said no to hps the t5 lights i have are doing a good job.

As long as you keep your canopy as flat as possible and keep the lights close they will perform as good as a small HPS.

tying and LST will give better yield using T's all through....

single cola T grows give less.

agin .. I belive the question to start with ... was one or the other ..

and then I would for sure .. no doubt .. go with them T5 (that is if I could get them HO "high output" once of course .. in the right coulor)



if the question was between a 400/430 HPS and I had nice temps. wher I live and a good ventilation or money to buy one I would choose the HPS...


but between a 150 HPS and a 4 bulb T5HO fixture with boath 6500K and 2700K bulbs I would at any time choose the T5 .. Im sure they would do a better job if you LTS/TOP/grow autos/Scorg .. and give me less problems with heat .. and I dont mind that they would use less electrisity aswell ..

also .. if you get the T5s .. you could easily buy the HPS next month (if you have more money by then) and use it for flowering or add boath ..

then T5 you will allways be able to use .. I guess the same go for the 150 HPS .. tho Im glad I got them T5s fist... for veg .. now Im happy with my 600w hps

later on I might use em for seedlings and get a 400W MH for veg ?

I got a half once of an 8 in himalaya blue diesel. Off an htgsupply $70 2ft 4 bulb t5. My cab's about the same size hps will be really hot in there. Don't do it. Also grow some BHD awsome smoke! Peace.
