Should we move to Cali an start to grow??

Hey - my boyfriend and I (him 23, me 21) live in Philadelphia, PA. My lease is up in August and we are thinking it might be extremely profitable - plus extremely fun to move out to Cali and start to grow pot indoors. We need some advice from all of you out there to help us make such a major decision as to whether or not it would be a good idea to move across the country to start growing Marijuana. We are both daily smokers and have a passion for all things "420". Is it as ridiculously profitable as we have heard/ read about, how much profit could one expect to make growing 15 plants indoors? Where would be the best place in Cali to move to? How much is the typical startup cost to grow 10 plants, 15 plants, 20 plants... etc? Any other tips or advice you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks so much! :blsmoke:

hi i would say for a nice little set-up it will cost you roughly £1000($2000ish) that would be with 3x 600 hps lights Mylar, fan and filter, pots, soil cuttings, ferts, obviously this is if your growing in a bedroom and not buying tents! i would use the 3 600 for 15 -18 plants and buy some T5 for a separate veg room so you have 2 rooms in one, this means the hps lights are only on for 12 hours a day, if your growing 18 plants every 8-9 weeks there's a really good profit to be made, the first grow will pay for itself with money left over for some new shoes, if you work on 2oz a plant 18x2=36 36x£200=£7200 English pound, im not sure what an ounce goes for in cali but you can work that out! veg them till about 20 inches and you should hit no less than 2oz a plant! good luck

Hey Kim! If you're looking to make money and have a passion for it, move to a newly legalized state. California is overrun with people who thought just like you. So is Colorado now. If you do go into this, don't forget, this is just a plant that SHOULD be free for everybody, especially those in need. Money seems to blind people who went into the business with good intentions. And please know as much as absolutely possible. Not much as discouraging as being more knowledgable about the product you're buying than the seller.

How do you become a caregiver and wheres the best place to move in Michigan? We're open to moving anywhere int he country but we figured we should move to a state where its legal, and Cali is pretty gorgeous so that was a plus.

OK we are really newbies so sorry if I sound silly with all these questions, but we really want some feedback!! - You mentioned "T5", what is that and how exactly do you have 2 rooms in 1 can you explain that in greater detail? Is Mylar a brand of lights? Also what did you mean by growing them in tents ... we were planning on doing it in a bedroom but what would the difference be if we grew them in tents? Sorry again for all the questions we're just anxious to learn and get more information! thanks for your reply.

hi T5 are lightd like this http://www.growmorehydroponics.co.uk/lightwave-t5-lighting-328-p.asp they are good for vegging your plants b4 they go into the flower room(hps lights) and save alot of money on electric, if your rooms big enough you can split it in 2 parts with some black plastic and mylar (mylar is a reflective plastic that you put on the walls) if you go the grow tent root http://www.kmsdirect.co.uk/shop/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=381 it saves you building rooms and they are already mylared so basically you just need to add the lights and fans and you can start growing, so you could buy 2 tents 1 for veging and 1 for flower, you always want the flower room to be bigger than veg room! so basically you would always have 18 plants in flower and 18 in the veg room growing to the size you want them, then when you cut the plants down in the flower room you take the one from the veg room and put them into flower! also you would have an area in the veg room for your clones! take the clones just b4 you put the veging plants into flower so thats your next lot of plants1

You could move to northern cali and grow giant outdoor plants lol, they just take much longer to grow and mature.

Nothing is ever as simple or as easy as what you describe. Based on your wanting to make a bit of money out of the venture, in itself, the idea of growing some herbage and selling it is risky. I have known many acquaintances who've done just this, either in BC or N. Cali. It seems that there are many people such as yourself going into this endeavor. Even in a 'legal' state, you're still going to risk being jailed or ripped off or who knows what else. There's plenty of asshole cowards out there who do nothing but rip a grower, not to mention law enforcement wanting to bust up an operation. And as far as becoming a 'legal grower' for the medical dispensiaries, it's a lengthy and expensive process, subjecting to criminal and credit checks, medical testing, licensing, wait times... it's endless.

You're better off staying put, save your money and grow for yourselves as well as trying to sell off some of your hard grown green. Unless you know a reputable middle-man, be careful. Even in California and BC, you can still garner a criminal record, fines and jail time. Best thing to do, is research every aspect before jumping in. And most of all, familiarize yourselves with the law and your rights, especially drug laws of where you are and where you might end up.

california is a huge state but co-ops are being targeted bigtime by the fedz. and theres a lot of em. i also recommend that you try another state thats legalized growing. to make money u have to go where the demand is high and the supply is low, basic econ. once u've established urself financially doing this then try taking on cali, maybe look to joint venture with an established cali growop. these are just my musings on the topic and dont forget its not only the cost of growing, its the cost of moving all ur stuff and then having enough money to live off for a few months while u get accustomed to the change. personally i wouldnt move across country without 10 grand on hand.

You'll have to be able to survive for 4 to 6 months while you grow out your first grow if your doing it for the money.
I admire your guts to be able to pick up and choose a state to live in. I'm too accustomed to local laws to leave my state.

I grew out 12 plants under a 400 watt system in a 4 x 4 tent, it all depends on size/strain and whatnot.
If you aren't moving anytime soon and haven't tried before I'd try raising a seedling and see how it works. You'll learn all the lighting spectrums and timing and fertilizers needed.
I think my setup cost me like $500 ($110 tent, $200 light/ballast, $20 light hangers, $50 pots, $40 soil, etc........) I did not invest in ventilation or odor control.

Good Luck~!

I just moved to Cali a few months ago. EVERYONE grows and sells pot. You do the math.
that doesnt mean its good weed. that means if person A has been growning for 10+years and person B this is their first harvest(just by them selve with out having someone tell them what to do) They both have bubba kush and take it to X, A wants $3000 but B will take $2500 then the bidding war begins. just because the name is same doesnt mean its grown the same if you want to make it as a grower just grow small

First, learn about what the heck your actually trying to do FIRST!
You dont get a job as en engineer and then learn HOW to engineer.
Your going to be competing in a quality driven market against PROS, if you cant cut the mustard your just burning money till you learn how to.

MI is the place to be for alot of reasons, they are not interested in busting tax payers and property is so freaking cheap its insane.

How many ounces does each plant produce and how long is your vegetation stage? Thanks! Do you suggest coming out to Cali since I see that is where you are at? Is there alot more room in the industry for growth and newbies to come join?

i moved hear from arizona LET ME TELL you it aint what u think its harder than that. you have to know your strains if their septibal to bateria temps ppm lighting amount n yeilds you have to know way more its realy agriculture at its finest n you cant fuck up if you do u loose big so i tried it n failed many times over i finaly got it but its isnt that profitable if you take in consideration rent contruction electricity n venders how good is your product do u know the tricks of the trade mites flies larva what are you gona do areo hidro soil, man it isnt easy n if you want to make big money its hard the law is grey so in my experiance i would just grow a few for yourself its not worth breaking the law i would just do it as a hobbie a lil to medicate after work. concreet work sucks thats what i do wen we have work n i have six plants thats all i can do thats all my renter will alow in a pantie room. GOOD LUCK but i dont know anyone who became rich doing this........
