Hey - my boyfriend and I (him 23, me 21) live in Philadelphia, PA. My lease is up in August and we are thinking it might be extremely profitable - plus extremely fun to move out to Cali and start to grow pot indoors. We need some advice from all of you out there to help us make such a major decision as to whether or not it would be a good idea to move across the country to start growing Marijuana. We are both daily smokers and have a passion for all things "420". Is it as ridiculously profitable as we have heard/ read about, how much profit could one expect to make growing 15 plants indoors? Where would be the best place in Cali to move to? How much is the typical startup cost to grow 10 plants, 15 plants, 20 plants... etc? Any other tips or advice you could give would be much appreciated. Thanks so much! :blsmoke:

ive been all over the USA over 20 states and 9 different countries, there is absolutely without a doubt no better place to live in other than southern california, period. not even close, miama, NY, chicago, boston, memphis, and every other major city in the USA, southern cali puts all those places to sleep. the weather, the attitude, the women, OMG the women, the beaches, sun, scenery, style, we are cutting edge over here in everything we do, every day is a new adventure... ive lived in orange county cali all my life and i make a great living and i wouldnt live any where else, ever... the weed laws are second to none, the leniency if anything happens legally while u "have your medical card" is almost comical.

as far as being "profitable" u need to have the right connections, ur not the first people to have thought up this idea in cali to say the least,LOL. i had been selling for side money for years and the clinics have flooded the market and taken all the street sales. so i stopped completely over a year ago, u can always sell to a dispensary "legally" for donations but there is so many growers out here doing micro managed excellent quality grows and on such a large scale that they can sell to dispensaries for so cheap and still profit themselves...

so not to be a dick but to be honest i gotta be raw about it... a couple of first time growers from philly would get walked all over, chewed up and spit out in this ravenous california weed scene. Id still move here though, cali puts philly to shame as well...

So basically you're saying Cali is awesome but dont move there if I want to become profitable growing marijuana? Im looking to make money and I really believe there is money to be made in this billion dollar industry...

Cali Is a meca for me i really dont plan on leaving cali
Im in kern county its close to everything
but as the pot scene goes there is alot of first time growers that just got there script and think they can just donate for a clone and put it in cheap soil or even in the ground and use crapy nutes and think its the best thing in the world. it takes time and practice cali is an place to start

That guy mazand1982 is right. I'm currently on my first grow and i've spent probably 200+ hours on this website studying up before I made a single purchase. If you want to make money in this industry in the first place, you're going to need to know what you're doing and know really well, from things like what lights to buy, different training for the plants, checking your waters PH and balancing it to checking your runoff's PH, nute lock, root bound, spider mites, nutrients, light cycles, humidity, temperature, light leaks, hermies, sexing plants and the list goes on and on and on and on and on. And everything I just said right now is only like .01% of the knowledge of most of the people talking to you right now, and they are still telling you not to do it.
If you have about 15,000$ dollars to spend on equipment, rent, bills, food ect ect for the next 6 months.. then go for it. If not, then I suggest you find something else cause i don't expect you to find a job when you move out here either. I spent 700$ on a personal setup with 1 light, and I still keep going back to the hydro store and spending 30$, 50$, 100$ like every four days just cause you run into so many things that you don't expect.

Go pick up a book called The Grow Bible.. that's what I was told to do. Read up.

The only way to really become an awesome grower is best learned by trial and error even with a vet teaching you they should tell you what to do and make you do everything and split profit 50/50 even if you did all the work and invested all the money he invested his hard earned knowledge he has figured out over yrs of growing thats worth it enough in its own. its a trade you will have for the rest of your life

you should start with tomatoes
grow it
clone it
produce fruit
and keep working on your green thumb
