There is no single answer to your question. Are you growing indoors? If so, you can put your plant into flowering (12/12 light) anytime you wish. You can expect it to double in heigth (at least) during flowering, so if I were you I'd look at the heigth available to you and let your plant get half that high before switching the light schedule.

how much do you want to yield is more important. I'm gonna flower mine at around 6-8" hoping for a 1/2 out of each. Longer you veg, the more it will be capable of growing. plants will double to triple in size during the flowering stage (i'm hoping hydro will make sure i get that triple).
I almost think nodes are more important than height anyways. I wonder if a 12" tall plant with 6 nodes will yeild as much as a 6" with 6 nodes if they are grown the same in all ways except internodal spacing.

k cooooo sumone carez!!!!well mine r about 3-4 inches tall 16 leaves total lol(counted every leaf)...9 days old..and yea my temp hits 86-88 what should i do that??p.s. i have 2 fans in there also

i put em inflower at 8" in hydro and had em end at over 4 feet

ouch, 86-88. are you in a cabinet? you need some fans or something. I don't know how your grow is set up so i'm not sure why you are getting that high. I know i caused a little heat stress once not because i didn'thave a fan, but the fan was having air flow blocked. make sure your airflow is where it counts and isn't obstructed.
I use two 70cfm fans to keep my 150w at bay from 9" from top of plant. Fans directly under light.
you ahve 16 leaves at 3-4"? Does that mean you have 8 pairs of leaves, 8 nodes, at 9 days? That seems kinda big for that size. Are you counting the main leaves and the secondary growth? If so, just count from the main growth. You are way to early to flower btw. Like i said, depending on how much you want to yield, which could be regulated by how big your light is, you might want to flower that at 1ft. gets 3 ft tall max. Thats a good size plant for an indoor grow. Thats what i'd be aiming for if i was growing bigger plants. You mgiht want to go till 1.5ft since you can't always count on the plant to triple.

tussel, your plants at 8" went to 4ft in hydro?!?! I"m not even sure if i can handle that right now... Should i really expect it to 5x in size? I am currently using an aerogarden with fox farms, but i plan to upgrade to a box before the harvest is done. But i definetly was hoping for 2ft at the end from 8". Should i expect more?

all strains are diffrnt but i use fox farms and areoponics and the plant had some tight node spacing.... scrog is the way to go a lot more yeild a lot less hight or lst or some form of evening out your canopy
