When I use Lime, I use a combination of.
Calcitic, and Dolomitic.
Calcitic is best for faster PH changes, and Dolomite stabilizes the PH, over a longer period of time, as it is much slower, to break down.
And, of course, the Calcitic, is a better source of Calcium, and Dolomite, is a better source of Magnesium.

Here is NE-Ky, the soil outside, is hard clay, and rocky, and to much Dolomite can turn the soil, into concrete. Used sparingly, if at all.
Premier products, who make Promix BX-HP, and others, use a ratio of 2/3 Calcitic Lime, to 1/3 Parts Dolomite. Sphagnum Moss base.
When making my own medium, I usually use Sphagnum Moss, and Calcitic, and Dolomite, as my Calcium, and Magnesium sources, because the inert medium is nil of both Calcium, and Magnesium, so both are supplemented.

Interesting, last time I used about 3/4 Oyster Shell to 1/4 Dolomite.

I like Premier Peat Moss for starting from scratch. Out in the country G&G Ace hardware had Premier Peat and ProMix BX. I like HP and used it this time , didn't even add rice hulls though I have plenty. I used some Happy Frog last time with rice hulls added and I thought it did very well.

Burping my jars is satisfying. These nogs have been along time coming. The terps are creamy and sweet. I have a hard time describing it...complex...superb. I've reached a new personal high in skunk growing. Among my best work as a grower. I'm trying to share these nugs with people locally so they can see what I can do with organic ferts. My last crop was good but nothing special...but this one is really tasty and terpy and why I do what I do.

I took a sample nug to the seed buyer at a local store. I was told they only want fem seed. Just dollar signs. That the skunk is a legacy genetic etc.,etc. didn't mean anything. They liked the bud but they failed for not realizing the skunk is a special old VA. genetic. This is a company that was busted importing pot to VA. and undermining the growers they claim to serve. That's how it is now. The 25 Firecracker packs I gave them disappeared without a single grow report. Honestly, never liked the product line up at this place, and I hope I don't ever need to go back there.

I hate these companies that only respect money. If they are not here to help me succeed then they are bullshit.

I'm wondering if the shop in my hometown is going to be as helpful. In the place where I had the skunk in the old days. I did go to another local shop and they were more on it about the genetic and said if I can get them packaged up they would put them on the shelf.

My trim has been aromatic and wafting across the room. Tonight it's going under 32 degrees and I'm going to sieve a high quality piece for my head. I want to see how the hash hits and I want to see how it smells. Never got to learn from Frenchy Cannoli and I am bummed by that because I love making hash and have been making it since the Quimby.

Tonight the temps are dipping low. I've been waiting for this night. The winter hash...I just remembered a hash piece I made winter of '15-16. It was a small high quality piece like I'm making tonight made under the same conditions. It was in my tray when the first bust went down. I can't remember what it was made of..sativa. I remember the terps kinda and how good it was.

It's 30 degrees out now. Gonna let the trim cool for another half hour then get to it. I have primitive sieve gear but that's okay. The ritual of doing this is very satisfying. Everything is in harmony.

View attachment 5425585View attachment 5425586Back in 2003 I took my Dave Watson sk#1 freebies from Gypsy Nirvana and made seeds in a guerrilla grow.
Those seeds were thought lost for 8 years after 3 life destroying busts caused by my own brother ratting on me. ( No one knows what his fucking problem is...)
Then they were discovered mislabeled when I grew some out. The first test yielded a nice clone specimen of this IBL and I did the right thing and gave it away to preserve it.
The pot industry in VA.because of no legal sales is a ruthless place. I gave away 3 clones and I am here to state and declare that I am the one who grew this back in the day locally and preserved it. We have all seen rip offs in the seed industry. I gave my clone to one company with the guidance to do anything they want with it i.e. profit from it. That's photon pharms. They will be releasing a feminized line I believe. I am also making some feminized seeds from the pictured 3 clones for preservation and interested buyers. (The reversal plants are isolated).
I am a legacy grower. The pot industry doesn't care about us. They don't care about pot culture. Most of the newcomers I have encountered have an attitude that doesn't match their grow experience or knowledge. I gave up my genetics to make sure they survive, now I am looking to preserve my legacy as an old and serious organic grower.
I will make regular seeds asap but due to my space limitations I cannot open pollinate. I have to pheno hunt on a small scale basis over time. Which honestly is the best way to proceed from here.
This post is to say this particular skunk line came from Dave Watson verified and it's because of my hard work it is here now. So you can put it in a greenhouse and bring back the power in these genetics.
View attachment 5425585View attachment 5425586 -Rich from EastWest Genetics.
Times have changed alot since this post. Only one person is authorised to use this cut and that's in Williamsburg. Anyone in VA. other than that has ripped genetics they don't deserve to have.
The company name EastWest is being changed. Right now it's just Unnamed Genetics.
