Small Stealth Perpetual Grow

Yup - clones is def the way to go for a set up like this. Can't be bothered with males....
They veg for about 6-8 weeks and I top them at least once - sometimes I top the major side branches as well.

Hey well i just read through this whole thing and you got a great set up going here.. props to ya man. im really new to growing and am just reading as much as i can to absorb everything i can. while reading this i dont really understand what and how to "top" and "train".
 
Thanks for stoopping by and for the props.

Topping is cutting the top off - this redirects growth from the main stalk to th ebranches, making for a bushier plant.

Training is using wires / strings to pull branches where I want them to make sure each branch gets the light it needs to make big buds.
 
beuatiful you got it going on man. you say you keep them below 30 inches? could you imagine keeping them smaller? like 10 15" smaller? im going to have a very very similar set up, 2 150 watts but they will be in a 2 drawer file cab, which is about 30 inches high in totall. ?

Yeah, they can be kept short like that. Though you'll need to put them in flower right away. Last fall I did a small SOG grow with 10 small clones - flowered when they were like 4 inches tall. Each got about 12" tall, single cola and yielded about 1/4 z for each one.

Though I'm worried about your twin 150s in such a small space. I got a pal who grows in a 2 drawer file cabinet like you mention. He's got a 75 HPS and 2 cfls and has trouble keeping the heat down in the summer time.

Though I guess putting 2 in there makes sense - you could always just run 1 if / when the temps get too hot.

Nice. Yeah im thinking of sticking 4 in there cause theres very limited space as you probably know seeing your budies set up. Thats cool man, i havnt heard of anyone trying it before so yeah id like to see that thing or at least a smoke review and plant review from what was witnessed

. What does he have for ventilation? Cause i was planing on a cool tube with 4 54cfm computer fans, 2 on each side, direct flow straight out with plexy boxing it in. Im debating over that and a 250 hps with a blower fan cool tube. Cant make up the mind, though i think im just going to go with one 150 and 4 85 watt cfls. (my other 150 is being held hostage(long story))
 
Modified bathroom fan with a variable speed control. I've also got a small PC fan inside as well to circulate. The bottom of the cab is an open grate, so fresh air isn't a problem - getting rid of the heat is.
 
So Things have been going mostly smooth. It's hard to keep on top of the timing of everything. I get lazy, or the plants don't grow quite as fast as expected and thing kind of lurch a bit. But I've been harvesting regularly every 2 weeks for quite a while now. EAch plant has been giving up about an oz - an extra 1/4 if I'm lucky. Plus I'm collecting some decent trimmings.


I try to pretty throughly inspect everything every month or so. Last week I noticed some serious scorching :shock::shock::fire::shock::shock: on the ducting and insulation I was using. and I only have 150w lamps!!!

PLEASE remember - electricity, heat, water etc... these things can be dangerous. especially in tight spaces like grow closests with high wattage lamps. Take a few minutes and check everything out every now and then.

I've since replaced the ducting with higher temp stuff. I also did away with the counter balances on the lights and chained them in place. By the time I got everything figured out with growing out the plants, they were up at the top most of the time anyway.

How well would a single 150w do in a 2ftx1.5ftx3ft area, single or double plant, 12/12 from the getgo on a clone, then progressing from there, mabey some CFL 40wers side lighting and a uvb light......Is a single 150w enough to get quality bud for a personal stash?
 
150w CFL or HPS? and how many 40w CFL's? 4? anyways i think you could pull a small stash from around 250w easily man.
