Smells like hay or something

So I had a Critical Purple autoflower plant get ready and it still smells like grass. I hung it in a taped box inside until a stem cracked off when I bent it. Then trimmed buds and put in a jar. Been 4 days in the jar and it still smells like grass or hay. What did I do wrong?
When I chopped the plant it had amber trichomes throughout if your wondering. I am pretty sure it was at its peak.

Thanks

Actually a couple buddies that know wassup agreed on the readiness of the plant. Hung for 9 days. Stem snapped when bent.
Gotta go find the pics but I will. Gotta finish this thing called work first. :)

For my experience over drying causes it, not so much an early harvest. If it's loud before chopping it's probably going to be loud if dried properly.

I got it in a jar now. Hopefully that will help change something. Flowers were very dry when I took it out, if I took it out early then could not be by much I dont think. Should I let it hang until I get more of the sweet smell?

I got 3 others drying now. I have them upside down hanging in a big box in the house. Same way I did this one. Gonna just let them hang longer Temp stays in the 70's inside. It was in the 90's here today.
