It has something to do with exchanging oxygen for CO2 in the plant. TheCO2 gets trapped in the buds by drying too quickly and basically searing the outside of the buds, so the CO2 can't be exchanged for Oxygen during drying. Put buds in a slightly moist enviroment with lots of fresh air for a week or so and do not put it away in the jars real crisp, but a little relaxed (not crisp) We call it asbestos bud when it doesn't burn as you described. LOL

Budman- The c02 thing makes sense because my buds dried crispy in like 7 days in the box before I put them into the jars to cure.

My drying box is very simple. A cardboard box with masonry string lines to hang the buds. I cut the buds to get the top and an additional shoot to hook over the box.

The humidity in the room is like 40% for drying and probably lower in the box. How do I dry the buds with a moist environment and not get bud rot?

Thanks!

BTW when I broke up the bud and left it overnight in a paper bag it smoked alot better. Only shitty thing about it is the smell and feel of breaking a chunk off a bick stick bud right before tossing flame to it. Breaking it up makes me feel like I am smoking shake like I was 14 again!

Apple juice sounds good. I am going to do four test plants when I turn to flower. One each of molasses, corn syrup, honey, maple syrup (real not imitation) and I am going to see if it has any truly differing effect on quality and flavor of smoke.
