Hello,

I'm snowed in 2 hours from my house, we have about 3ft of snow and its still comin. My light went out lastnight and its about 32 degress farenheit and my plants are without light and heat. Will they last 2 days in the cold? I wont be able to get home until tomorrow.

Thanks

Damn dude. I feel your pain. As long as it doesn't super overly cold in your grow room, they should be alright, but theyre probably gonna be in shock or something

Ugh tell me about the snow... It hit me horrible last night. However it sounds like you got much more, sorry to hear about your troubles! In order to answer as accurately as i can, i just need to know a few things first:

If your plants are indoors, approx. where are they located indoors?

How old are they?

What light cycle are they exposed to?

What's your general system setup?

What's the average temperature of the grow room and the rest of the house regularly?

Until i have those answers i couldn't answer extremely accurately, but as long as your indoor environment doesn't drop below 40 degrees F for a prolonged period of time. 1, 2 days max. Depending on your light cycle, it could have negative effects on plants, but probably not death. Major light/temp stresses could lead to hermies or perhaps even complete sex changes.

Just try and not sweat it out my friend, unfortunately the weather is out of everyone's control... and yes, it absolutely sucks sometimes... try and take it easy man, it takes a long time for a house to sharply decrease it's temperatures anyway. Even if the power is out.

Best of luck, i'll be checkin back periodically for your reply. :peace:

Also, after the power returns and the temperature/lighting returns to normal, there may be a 24hr period where you may notice very little growth- if any. This is just the shock that follows the temperature/light stress and is normal.

Best of luck again

My plants are in a insulatod 10x10 shed in my back yard. The only heat source is the light which runs 24 hours a day. The temp stays around 80 normally but i have the light on a heavy duty multioutlet that has its own breaker. i did this incase something shorted out it would trip the multioutlet breaker and cut power to the light. Problem is when ever the power is cut off that breaker automatically trips and has to be reset manually.

I got someone to turn it back on for me thankfully but i'd still like to know what would happen.

The building is sealed pretty well and like i said, it is insulated but i know it can get below freezing in there. The current outside temp is 27 degress. The plants are in 3 gallon pots sitting on a pallet off the floor. IF the temps were to drop down to below freezing for say 48 hours, would the plants be gonners?

theyd be lucky to survive. im positive there would be some shock and if you were in flowering, the plants might stress themselves into hermies if they survived
