Absolutely. I know, I know! You don't have to say it... Horrible song, emo as shit. But my ?sentimental? side, from my younger days thought this question up while reminiscing while listening to it..
So, to you, what makes a hero?
My personal heroes would include people like my dad, for reasons I'm sure most of you can identify with.. Or Chuck Yeager, as a kid growing up I kind of idolized him wanting to be a fighter pilot. Neil Armstrong, same reasons, I had a big interest in astronauts as a kid, I could tell you each program, flight director, backup crew, module, ..., Tupac, it was actually really interesting to me to discover the guy and his music later on in my life, I heard people in highschool talk about him, but it wasn't as easily accessible then as it is now. Everything they said was true.
I think a hero is someone who puts a cause they believe in above themselves. This could be anything, it doesn't matter how small. You stand up for yourself and what you believe is right, you stick by it, you defend it, and if you're challenged and unable to defend your position, a TRUE hero is a man who concedes defeat. Someone who can look themselves in the eye and admit they're wrong.
You will never know true victory until you've first faced defeat.
That type of interaction is pretty rare, but it's one of those moments that makes the room a little bit brighter.. I try to do that whenever I realize I'm wrong about something.
Heroes can even include fictional characters, maybe most people would even argue most heroes are fictional! I'd argue that's not fair, but I'll allow it. Henry from Goodfellas! Now that dude was a fuckin' hero! Did you see that scene where he beat the fuck out of the guy who messed with Karen? "You touch her again and ya fuckin' DEAD!"

So who are your heroes and why?
