...back that light up, it's getting too much....and if your misting your foilage while the lights are on, stop that too....what kind of soil you using?

Yeah mate think you should grab some cfl's for when its still a baby, the heat and light of a 400w will be overwhelming. :)

Should use MH or Flouros for that stage of the plant. Might be hitting it too hard with HPS. Def keep enough space between plant & light.

I dont know. I dont use HPS for veg. CFLS are great for it. Very Cheap to buy/operate No heat, plants love em at that stage. Go spend $15 & get some cfls & a clip on light man. You will be happier. Once she;s bigger THEN you can hit her with the big guns :)

Good luck to ya though.

its nut burn the soil is to strong for the seedlings.
Why would light cause this?
has anyone put any thought whatsoever into they're post b4 they post em?

EDIT:the only thing the lights could be doing is putting off heat.

I dont know anything about CFLS. How strong and how much do i need for about 8 plants?

how it is too strong?

as everyone has said, HPS is too hard core for the beginning - you are gon'na LOVE it when it's time to flower. But for now go get some CFLs or fluros (I started with t8s a fixture + bulbs was about $20)

Yes people do put thoughts into their posts. You are right, the light can be putting off too much heat, also HPS is the wrong spectrum (red) when you're trying to imitate "spring" (blue) the seedling thinks its late summer or early fall with an HPS on it and is giving up, like "Phuck I sprouted too late in the season. Phuck it."

It could be nute burn as FFOF can be a bit strong for seedlings, but if it sprouted then I doubt it. I've never had problems with FFOF, personally.

I use (as you can see from the picture) shop fixtures with t-8 full spectrum bulbs. I think you could put at least 4-6 plants under that at least until they were established enough to up the lights to MH or stonger/closer cfls. I like the shop lights because as you can see from the first photo I posted you can grow right up to them almost tying them to the bulbs themselves.

You're gon'na need a lot for 8 plants. Go the fluorescent way - that way you can get a 2, 3 or 4 foot dual lamp fixture and hang it a couple inches above them...all rowed up simple, easy and plenty of light. I vegged with two dual-T8s in shop fixtures (total cost me $40 for the two fixtures and four t8 bulbs). Get the 6500k T8 bulbs. If its confusing just bring this list to your local hardware store:

-2x 48" t8 shop fixtures (plug-in not hardwire)
-4x 48inch 6500k t8 bulbs

At 28" from your plants, a 400 HPS is weaker than many CFLs, so I REALLY doubt it's the light. And, that's coming from a guy who uses a similar 6-bulb fluoro, as pictured above, for seedlings/veg. I'm guessing you've fed them, and burnt them, or gave them water with really low PH.

EDIT: If you're on 24/0 lighting, switch to 18/6, and give your babies a break. They do alot of growing, during 'light's off', and under HPS, would likely thank you for that dark period.

Ya way too much light. it's probably causing the plant to dry out and or cook. if that's not it then I'd say nutes and or ph. I'd hold off on nutes until that baby is a way bit taller, and be sure to ph your runoff.

I wouldn't get any T8's they are worthless besides vegging very, very small plants (waste of money and power). You should get a few CFL's they work way better anyhow. A 32w (100w equivalent) CFL is better than a 80w strip T8 light

Check the first couple pages in my link, if you think T8's are worthless. I've seen VERY few CFL grown plants that can compare.

I agree though, the 2-bulb 4' shoplights, aren't much good for plants bigger than 8" or so.

people its not the lights lmaoooo its abviously a foilage spray burn and or ph issue period i got babys under 1000 watts
