SOMEONE PLEASEE HELP! tall & spindly seedling

hey, wondering if any of the experts here can help me out. This is only my second time growing in years and i havn't had this problem before so im wondering if there is any way to correct this or is she too far gone to save. I planted her 6 days ago now, she popped out of the soil within 2 days but now today on the 6th day she's about 5 1/2 inches tall and really thin and spindly. I know im using the wrong type of light as i wasn't really expecting her to sprout so i wasn't really prepared but the light i have on her is a 100w clear bulb. I will be switching the the proper cfl's today but is this problem im having because of the light or something else? And how can i correct this if possible? Could i possibly just transplant her into a bigger pot then bury her deeper or?

yeah i just switched it to two cfl's 42watt, 6500k for each one and theyre bigger so its alot closer. probably within 2inches of the top of the plant.

k, cfl do need to be within a few inches to be any good. next time you repot up just burry it deeper and keep the light close and should be ok

okay well i guess ill do the transplant tomorrow into a 1 gallon pot and report back with some details to make sure she still looks okay to other people.

thats way to small to go up yet. let it fill that pot first with roots more. your going to stress it to much right now being all week

CRAPPP! I wish i hadda checked back to the forum first instead of rushing into things and getting excited. I ended up repotting her anyway before i seen your other post. But, when i was doing it most of the dirt came off the little ball of roots cause they wern't developed properly. So anyway, she's now in the pot and still seems perky after a couple hours. But, im wondering how long would it take for shock to set in if i shocked her? Im just wondering if i did, how long before symptoms show and what, if anything can i do to save her?

Anybody with some experience?

sit back and relax man...your over thinking this. just get the light closer and wait. make sure to let it dry and dont over water as there isnt much roots yet

yea, im over stressing a bit just cause it's the only one i got going atm so im kinda tryin to baby her too much, loll. I did the transplant around 1:00pm and put her back under the lights with just enough water to dampen the top of the soil then i checked on er about 2 hours later, which she actually seemed to perk up a bit more then before. Then she went into dark at 530pm and i havn't seen her since. Soo hopefully when i go check her out when its time for the lights to come back on she'll still be perky. But yea, the main thing i was wondering is how long before you see signs of stress if i did shock her from the dirt all falling away? Would i be able to fix it if that were the case?

no worries on the questions. as soon as you put your nahds on here it stressed her...lol. but dont worry. she`ll be fine. more what i was reffrering to was most will now water alot and try for run off and with little to no roots lower in the new pot it messes up the pH. it takes longer to dry as there is no roots uptaking the water or foods. so add bit by bit as she recovers.
dont worry about messin up, i still do after 20 years and i show it in my journals. ya some hack me for it but i look at it as a better way to learn for others on how to fix it or what caused it

I agree with Medi, try to just chill. I'd plant another seed or seeds, keep the light closer and just kick back. Remember, they don't call it weed for nothing.

yea, im not soo worried now. she's actually doin quite well today from what i can see. she just started getting her fourth leaf yesterday before transplant and now today it pretty much doubled in size from yesterday. so i take it this is a good thing and i didn't do too much damage? and yes medi, for my watering ritual im very light on the water cause i was worried about the whole root rot thing from the start. so what ive been doing was just dampening the top of the soil when i notice it starts to really dry out. should that be okay for her or should i be watering a lil more and not letting her dry out as much?

here's a few more pics. once again, sorry for the crappy quality of my camera. i was gonna fully burry her but the thought kinda made me uncomfortable cause i didn't know if it would suffocate her or not so i figure ill slowly build her dirt up by adding more every second day or so.

your not going to choke anything out by burrying it deeper. id even scrape the stem erea to make more roots from that erea. just slightly scrape with a cleen razer blade the skin or pulp a bit and roots will grow

oh really? we'll ill deff bury her deeper tmrw then and i might give the scraping thing a try too. judging by the new pics though do you think she's doing any better medi? do i still have to worry about shock now or do you think she's adjusted now?

Bury her up to the leaves, keep the lights within a inch of the top, in a few weeks add more lights. You can't have enough light, by the time she is flowering you want at least 400 actual watts on it, which is about 10 of those CFl's.
