Sometimes bigger really is better.

Good morning tokers. I did an involuntary side by side test using Russian Rocket Fuel, an auto that I planted over a month ago. They all started in 4" pots then 2qt pots, all except this one. The small one in the pic. I know you all know that if you give a plant a longer root run it will produce more of those very fine root hairs. Those are what make the cation exchanges that make it possible for the plant to grow at optimum rates. The actual process is very interesting Botony but not something I would post here. uh...who me? what do u mean by variable? i'm a gardener not a botonist. I guess if you mean the dif between the two is the longer root run...that's the ONLY dif. everything else was the same

Yeah my friend, that's what I'm talking about..
I'm running on 2 days w/o sleep, and hyped up on a mix between Monster, Redbull and some other crappy energy drink.. Longer root run? Like, kept it in the pot longer, or gave it more room to grow its roots?

missing variable

if it were from clone this test would be more accurate but from seed some just grow bigger and more vigorous than others no matter what size pot. if i were to guess id say the one on the left was just faster growing genetics.

but the fact remains seeds give off different phenos and some grow slower/faster than others so cant truly be an accurate test unless done with clones from the same mother

incorrect. but i appreciate your opinion.

edit..i didn't mean to sound condecending..i understand the whole pheno thing. but that wouldn't be enough to explain a 100% dif in growth. And i have other RRF's that are in 2qt pots that are all the same. this was just a study of how more roots equals more top growth.

incorrect. but i appreciate your opinion.
umm no offense but seeds give off lots of different traits from the parents not the exact same ones. why do you think people germinate packs of seeds and only pick the best 1 or 2 to clone from.......

literally scientifically you are missing a variable and your little science experiment has really no merit... so you are incorrect. i was trying to be polite before. how about you research before you call me incorrect

iv grown TONS of seeds and its a fact.

iv had seeds of the same strain planted 1-2 weeks apart catch up to each other, with all the same variables and that means only one thing genetics!!!!

so bigger pot equals bigger plant....this is obvious. i grew and flowered a plant in a shotglass and one in a 7 gallon pot. the seven gallon was rediculous huge and the shotglass was, well....ill post pics:hump:

i dont mean to come off rude, just informative. im in a horticulture program. and iv been growing outdoor sense i was 15. i may not have the post count but i do know a thing or two about botany.

nor do i...i gotta watch my p's and q's. I did the whole formal education thing for four years too. and botony was my worst class. but it didn't keep me from starting a landscaping biz and did that till my back couldn't keep up. so i know my way around a nursery...lol..i won't trash anyone's opinion or question anyone's credentials. post count is irrelivant.

Ahem.. Gonna go ahead and move this post along.. Since we have some serious growers here with some advanced knowledge, can someone tell me why the heck mine is growing so slooowww... The biggest will be a 2 weeks on saturday, the little 2 weeks on monday..

Have you introduced nutrients yet? What light and how close is it? Im gonna guess its genetic, are they the same strain? Some are slow veggers...
