As quick as I am to learn, this seems quite involved and I was wondering if anyone would help on here as to what I actually need them to build me please. They are telling me that they use cre and that they can build me whatever I want and could easily replicate the spectrum king 400+
Again the problem is that they want to know specific as to what I want in terms of light. I've told them I want a full spectrum range of light that has real intensity.
I'd be really grateful if anyone on here could help.

You don't need a specially built lamp for growing Cannabis. The stock 4000k high bays or floodlights work perfectly as grow lamps. You don't need a custom spectrum. Spectrum Kings put out a color (CCT) of 3700k, which is the same as a warm white. The 4000k stock ones work just as well and keep the plants a little shorter, which is usually desirable. They also bring out more colors in the plants, like purples. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I would just get 240w CXB high bays because they're more compact and easier to handle than 400w high bays. You might prefer to get rectangular floodlights though, since you said you wanted 120 degree beam. A 200w one would have two 100w COBs in it. Any color from 2700k to 4000k is usable for plants, 4000k being the most commonly available.

Thank you very much for the advice guys. I am in the UK so the reason for me wanting LED lighting is due to our seriously high energy costs. So from what I can muster I want a CCT of 4000k that will no doubt be 400w unit that produces a "white light"

Any other information you guys would be willing to share would be well appreciated.
See the thing is, I know how to grow dope but these lights are a bit f a mystery to me. I want to grow 2 kilo of cannabis but due to energy costs I want an end product that doest cost me the earth to produce.

I've seen more of the IG 420's going to the UK. Shipping isn't that bad either. What kind of kWh rates are they charging over there?

I've heard negative things about spectrum king manipulating their data and tests to look better then they are ( reminds me of those wonder product TV ads) ;-)

It wouldn't surprise me. Their results look too good to be true to me given what SK lights are made of. Not saying the updated version is bad but certainly not top of the line.

Google for SpectrumKingLED. It's another flim-flammy light. Overstates what he does, misleads customers in his "LED 101" presentation (about COBs being a "myth." I'm surprised he continues to do that -- considering all the evidence to the contrary.). See this warning.

I read once that you can find those fixtures on AliExpress and power a COB using one.

What is it that interests you about this light? (Seems like CMH would be a better choice.).

Albeit more expensive upfront, the SK400+ outperforms LEC/CMH/CDM per PAR Watt, and overall has quite a bit more output than the Philip's 315 bulbs. The Spectrum is also much fuller and tailored for flowering plants.

Has there been a thread about that? I remember when the SKL guy was here and his numbers didn't seem trustworthy. It seemed like he wasn't measuring the coverage, just intensity directly beneath the light. (And then the thing I linked to which alleged outright deception.).

Has someone independently compared the numbers?

(His "COB is a myth" rhetoric made me skeptical.).

Yes, actually I myself have tested these two lights head to head with a PAR meter.

I work at a grow store and we have both the SK400+ 90 deg. and a Sun Systems LEC 315 hanging on display.
The light performs just as the company claims. It's a great product compared to most other big name "commercial" LED fixtures, but the price is pretty steep. And the new COB's are certainly more efficient.

This is a link to the other SK hate thread where I posted my results. For some reason I can't find the LEC readings I took, so Grower's House results will have to do for the comparison.

BTW, I don't really support Spectrum King as a company or agree with how they practice business.
But the product ain't bad...

:EDIT:
I will also say SK recommends their product hang 18"-24" above the canopy.
I have the 18" data as well.. If anybody was interested in seeing that then let me know and I will post it up.
