Spicysativa's Cheese Quake Grow

Here are some more pics of the issues I'm having. This came on QUICK. I have given them 2 feedings of Earth Juice (50/50 Grow/Bloom, plus Meta K for one feeding), but the problem continues to get worse... I have not been adjusting the pH of the Earth Juice, for what it's worth.

IMG_8419.jpgIMG_8420.jpgIMG_8424.jpgIMG_8426.jpg

These pics are two different plants. One is showing the yellowing and necrosis, one is just showing necrosis around the edges of the cola leaves (and tips rolling upward). All 4 plants are showing the symptoms to some degree.

What do you guys think? Am I doing the right thing by feeding them? Should I continue to feed next watering (couple days from now)?

I REALLY hope someone can help me out here... I hate seeing them suffer like this.

Thanks in advance.

Damn dude that sucks... Do you have a soil PH tester? If the feeding made it worse I'd try to get a couple waterings in on them before giving them anymore nutes... Either that or a compost tea with either compost or worm castings, maybe a little kelp meal but no NPK... I cant tell if its a def. or if its a burn, they have a nice dark green color to them so I dont think its an abundance of N, thats a start... Maybe someone with a better eye than myself can help you better but I'd definitely get a soil PH tester rather than trying to test runoff and all that, it never seems to work out for me when I do that and follow the reading of what comes out..... Good luck dude...

Dont feel so bad bro, at least your garden looks to be running normal.... I got hammered in sandy the hurricane, I lost power for 1 day then everything was all good.... for a few days which I decided to switch to 12/12 seeing everything was up and running....then bam the people that run the place downstairs where my power goes through decided they are gonna upgrade their service....but seeing I dont really need power (they know nothing of what I do) I could live without it until they are done and chopped my lines out.... so now I just flipped my girls with no heat and no 1000 watters... I ran cords all over the place to get some kind of warmth and some T8's but my babies are in sad shape however they are healthy so I cant really complain too much, but it sucks trying to work like this.... The power was supposed to go back on within 2 days.... its been 5 and nothing but the rip out has been done.... definitely starting to panic though...

I'm not sure if the Earth Juice made it worse or just did nothing. It came on QUICK, and continued after adding the EJ...I don't have a soil pH tester, but I can check the runoff next time. I think I am going to give them a mild AACT next watering, unless anyone chimes in thinking that would be a bad idea.

What do you guys think?

Looks like your just running out of super soil momentum...since you are only around mid way, I would just feed with a mild phd solution again. You really wanna know those nutrients are gonna be bio available, so maybe go with a tea and sea if you need a phd feeding...your earth juice prolly was rather low and not a lot of help to your ladies that for along in maturation...

good luck homie!

Thanks man! You think I might be better off with something like Pure Blend Pro that's supposedly more pH stable? The Earth Juice bottle says NOT to adjust pH, and I have heard that it'll have a big pH swing if you do.

Would a little Hygrozyme be helpful to make more nutrients available? I'll try anything at this point, but I don't want to just be shooting blind...

I would use the pure blend pro at 75 percent strength as hovering runs his botanicare line at 75 percent. I think it could have something to do with a ph issue, so having something that is more ph stable, that you can adjust to the ideal range is what I'd go with. Just my 2 cents.

I've fed my Cheesequake 100% strength General Hydroponics Flora 3 part on my most recent feeding with no signs of burn, I'm in hydro btw. Seems like this strain can be a heavy feeder, you may want to put down the tea and hit her with some NPK.

I think I'm gonna pick up some Pure Blend Pro this evening and give them some of that tomorrow. That way I won't have to second guess mysellf about the pH on the Earth Juice. I will post up more pictures as this progresses.

Hello Spicy, I am a big fan of CQ. Been using a no till, sub-irrigated, air infused, multi-plant planter with Super Soil for about year now. I top dress with a relatively neutral super soil mix every rotation, mulch with Alfalfa and use General Organics throughout the cycle, usually...This run I nuked them pretty hard by using full strength and sometimes double the amount for bloom feed(Bio-Thrive Bloom) and Bio Marine throughout bloom. There is significant tip curl and brownout and they are in their last two weeks or so of flower. I'm not too worried at this point; However, in the future I will adjust to a much milder feed. Once a plant says enough is enough all you can do is either transplant or give pure water to them until all new growth shows you signs of recovery. Remember super soil is a feed and organic soils are alive with micro life as you already know. My AACT's are very simple and I only use them to keep my soil conditioned and happy. Be very careful when using them indoors in planters. Your plants have issues but in my opinion its something you can cure by feeding pure water a couple times and then go back gradually with your feed for that week. Peace

So am I understanding you right that you think this is a burn, not a deficiency?

No, I burned mine but I think yours are in some sort of lock out. You can see the difference from my latest picture post. Notice the tips are burned and curled up from me nuking them. Sorry for the HPS shot. Only my Diesel is showing yellowing and that's pretty common for her. My CQ tends to do better staying green to the end.

Gotcha. So this lockout may have been instigated by me trying to brew a fungi-rich AACT which likely had a low pH (fish hydrolysate and humic acids both drop pH). Then mmy low pH feedings of Earth Juice may have exacerbated the problem. I think we may be on to something here... I guess I can't escape the old pH issue even growing organically...

So if I give them some pH balanced water, or some neutral pH compost tea, I should be able to break out of this lockout?

That's kind of what I'm thinking. Fungal teas are just difficult to use on indoor plants, I've never had much success with them as opposed to bacterial dominate teas. Matter of fact I've been told to not use them in planters indoors. I would stick with just RO at a comfortable PH and see if that don't bring it(them) around. Remember the damage done won't change but what is not affected will remain that way. You can't really restore damaged tissue but you can bring your soil back to be balanced and happy. :peace:

That was also my initial thought, too much ph flux which caused a lockout. I'm also big on the AACT, however I try to "ph" my tea by making the tea more bacteria dominated, or fungi dominated, by adding more of one or the other until it sits around 6.5.

I have no experience with super soil but are you even considering that its not a ph issue but rather lack of nutes (NPK) altogether?

I'm a hydro grower myself but I did start in soil. Even the hottest soils I've ever used still ran out of the essentials before getting mid way through flowering. Also, being that I grow hydro and had the importance of ph shoved down my throat by everything I've read on this site but I've come to realize by experience that ph lock out is pretty rare and cannabis is a pretty ph tolerant plant. Just thinking out loud, trying to help...

They likely are low on NPK, but the problem continued to get worse after 2 applications of Earth Juice (50/50 grow/bloom).

Slow down man.... you guys (myself included) have you going in a million different ways, go do any garden store and buy a $10 soil ph tester that has a probe and can be reused.... if your plants need to be watered at all use PHed water only... then.... once you figure out whats going on... hit them with a tea.... I dont think they are running out of anything, usually when you see nitrogen deficiencies is when you know the super soil is running out of gas, your plants even though they have all sorts of nasties going on, you dont look to be lacking N at all so I would bet on that using the earth juice with its low PH and maybe a lacking of lime caused the start of your problems.... Dont do anything until you know the PH of the soil and that its definitely your problem, I dont believe testing the runoff is accurate enough, the soil of my PH is 6.5 by the meter....testing the runoff of water thats 7.0 going in is coming out in the low 5's...... so I cant see how that is going to help anyone, some people trust it like gospel but I cant put my faith in it... Think less is more dude...... a very basic compost tea is the only thing aside from water I'd put in them right now... I'm not saying anyone else is wrong at all either but I'm just saying take it slow and with as few "products" as possible.
