for some reason i can not get my soil to dry out, its been about 4-5 days not and they are still reading moist....have a couple that have some drier spots but for the most part they are all pretty moist. please look at my pics and tell me what u think. seems like they have slowed down b/c they are so moist, but i just started noticing the color change in some...am thinkig it could have something to do with the new 400..look at the pics and tell me what u think. thanks

here are the rest of them
no, im sure that big ass fan will do its job. but keep this in mind, if u have a fan blowing air into the room, and only a hole for it to exit, u will raise humidity. if u have a fan sucking air out, and only a hole for it to come in, u will lower humidity. check the bottoms of your pots and see if the drain holes are clogged. if u dont have a lot of heat and light u probably wont need to water as much. from what i understanding, adding co2 makes ur plants use way more water.. check some of videoman's posts.

Hey BOGGLEGUM420! I got your PM, and re-read your log, nice going so far.
A few things come to mind, 1st is humidity, I read your concern about it, and that you presently have it at about 31%, thats fine.

Do your plants have proper drainage? If need be, take a screw, or a nail and add a hole(s) to the bottom of the planter(s).

Next is your HPS light, I dont know which one you have, but this is the one I have, some of the benefits are a glass shield, and it is easily air cooled, if need be.

Stay away from co2 for now, although, I think you should consider it in the near future, maybe your next grow? You'll love it, but go for the tank.
(Get in touch with me later, and we'll discuss this.)

Now the more pressing issue seems to be your temps. According to my calculations, if you exhaust 250cfm, your grow room temp should be about 5 degrees above the ambient temperature. Obviously a 500cfm would put you at 2.5 degrees over the ambient temperature.

I assume you have a suitable intake for fresh air? Assuming that, you have some options, 1st is to add another exhaust fan, but in this case, that's not my favorite option. Is your ballast remotely place outside of the grow room?

Moving on, you can aircool your light, which would help the most, as your attacking the problem at it's source. You'll need a glass cover though.

If air cooling is not in your future, maybe an additional exhaust fan, like my favorite....a bathroom exhaust fan, place mid height into the room, with duct work carrying the exhaust away, this way, you are trying to get the heat directly from the light, and exhaust it. This is by far, the cheapest answer.

If you choose to air cool your light, this would help in getting ready to add co2 at a later date.

I hope this helps you!
Peace

Videoman thanks so much. the hps light i have is not air cooled. i do plan on upgrading but due to funds will be about 2 weeks. currently i only have a 170cfm inline exhausting my room, i do have an intake but its only a hole, but it is an 8x8 darkroom louver and it seems like it blocks a lot of air. when i open the door and put a fan in front of the grow room i can get temps down to around 79 but when its shut up my temps can reach 88...my exhaust hole is 4' and my intake is 8 x 8

with that being said i went out and purchased a wall / ceilining exhaust fan(shitter fan if you catch my drift)...70cfm rating..my plan was to put this fan in my wall and have it sucking cold air from the other room and exhausting it into my grow room. would this work / or help my temps?

my ballast is in my grow room but i have it right next to my exhaust and i also have a fan blowing on the ballast. the ballast is not even hot to the touch..and as far as i know my ballast is not remote. after this grow i will be upgrading everything and fine tuning my room for many grows to come. this is my 2nd grow but 1st in the new grow room.

i will check my pots in the morning and see if the drainage holes are being blocked, i will also add a few more to be safe. here is a pic of the light i have now...it is also in a pic in the journal...and let me correct myself, my ballast is remote...also is a pic of a similar exhaust fan i got...i know my plants are probably dying for some food, but i wanna make sure there soil is nice and dry first..then i will only give a little bit at a time until i can dial em in...thanks for your help and keep me updated..please..lol

Right Now I Have My Grow Room Door Open With A Fan Blowing In And My Temps Are At 78...temps Outside The Grow Room Are 74...does This Mean I Need A Bigger Intake? if i were to close my grow room door, temps would rise to 85-88

Hey Dude, happy to return here! Is that bathroom fan installed yet? It should certainly help alot.

On another note, what soil are you using? Did you add pearlite or sand to it? It sounds like it's not draining fast enough. Either of these would aid in drainage.

Not that you need anyones help, as you've identified your problems and know what needs to be done.

Sorry to cut you short, but I'm having a health problem today, I am not feeling too well and need to go to the Doc later today.

Do me a favor, in case I forget, drop me a pm, with a link back here in a couple days at most, so I can see your progress with the new fan, and the pearlite that you added.
Peace
PS, your doing fine.

yes i do have peralite...the mix i used was from bog)bushy old grower) and i know people who have had success with it, but after this round i plan on switching back to fox farm OF, and a light warrior mix...for my mix i used 2 bags(10 gallons) of reg potting soil , 3 cups of blood meal and 2 cups bone meal, and 1 gallon of pertalite...does this seem like enough...some spots of my soil arer getting dry but for the most part all of it is reading on the moist side..its kinda strange...i think the moisture in the soil has stunted there groth some...video, thanks for the words of engouragement...thanks for checking up on me...i will keep ya posted in the next couple days...can u see the pics above...some of the leaves have a tint of yellow on them...is this just bleaching from the light or b/c the soil is moist...thanks again

well i decided to flip the switch on mine today. they have been vegging for about 25 days (30 days since they seed were germed) i started reading a thread on here about 12/12 from seed and was hooked. so i said what the hell...i'll throw them into flower and then weed out the males..my plan is to keep one male and breeding it with one of my females...then i will have enough seeds to do this everytime...i'm only looking for personal smoke so weight is really not an issue...i dont have a big area anyway so i think this would work best for my situation...i've done the 6ft plants before and dont want that again...lol...well will post pics in the days to come...

well its been a couple days and i now have 3 confirmed females and 4 males...still waiting on 2 to let me know whats up. here are a couple pics...the empty pots were the males that i chopped and got rid of. i ended up keeping the top of one of the males and using videos technique for gathering pollen. hopefully it works..let me know what u think so far. its crazy cause the first one to show its sex was female, then i had 4 str8 males, then i spoted 2 females and now i am waiting for the last 2....i always heard the males will show first then the females will follow..keeping my fingers crossed that the last 2 are female...that would leave me with 5 of 9 being females...

well not sure if anyone is following this anymore but here are some updated pics...these were grown 12/12 from seed pretty much, which is why the plant is so small. i plan on getting about an ounce a plant if everything goes ok, one single cola that will double in size over the next 3 weeks...stay tuned...

btw...my biggest plant is 19" inches and my smallest plant is 14"....

will post more pics once the hps is off...
