Stretched

I have 5 plants in plastic cups outdoors, about 3 weeks old from seed. Unfortunately i neglected them while moving houses and they are all badly stretched.
They are still very young looking because they were on a window sill for this time (resulting in the stretching)....
I've heard of people covering the stem up to stabilize, and also grow more roots
However a friend suggested this may just cause stem rot. Does this depend on age?

Re-pot them and bury them up to their cotyledon's.

No, it will not.

I had one I did the same thing to it stretched Horribly but not till after its first set of 3 fingered leaves so I snipped those off and planted it down about a foot, looks better than most of my other ones now.. People say up to the cotyledons I go a few inches higher for stronger stem, to each their own I guess

having you light on 24/7 stops them from growing really tall. but you stil have to have the light close
