Super Plant Tonic...what it is and what it is not...

should I soak the rockwool in the SPT solution as well? or just dip the ends of the cuttings in it?
.
NotoriousB... Just dip the ends of the cutings in it. That will provide good protection.
.
No need to soak the rockwool in it, just soak them in plain water (no chlorine) with a ph of 5 to 6, ring them out once, rehydrate and then squeeze out the excess water before putting your cutting into them.
.
Hope this helps....

Hello,

Glad that I found this thread... I just heard about BMO SPT from a buddy in Cali who uses it in his organic hydro setup.

I grow 100% organic and overall I'm really happy with my current soil performance but I can't resist trying a great organic tonic to see what the difference in my grow is. I'm using Subcool's 'super soil' mix and it is heavily amended with organics: Roots Organic soil with added worm castings, bone meal, blood meal, bloom bat guano, rock phosphates, epsom salts, azomite, powdered humic acid and sweet lime.

Since the soil is quite hot do you suggest using it at less than the suggested rate on the bottle? I plan on giving it a go at half strength but wanted any input from those using it in soil. Currently I feed my girls water and an occasional feed every couple of weeks with Liquid Karma for humic/fulvic acid and Sweet for carbos to keep the beasties happy.

Thanks in advance for any tips or info!

Peace!:peace:

GPG.... Yes, definately drop down the dose on the SPT down when using Super Soil.
.
Start low, then go up, in small increments. I'd start with 5 to 7 ml per gallon of unchlorinated water the first week. Then the next week take it up to 10 ml per gallon, then the following week, 12 ml per gallon. That would be a safe way to go. If no nute burn showed up, I'd do most of my plants at 12 ml per gallon.
.
I doubt you will even need to go up to 15 ml per gallon (which is half strenght for soil) to see good results. I would do just one plant at 15 ml per gallon, so you'd know for sure where your limit was, with your particular soil. If no nute burning showed at 15 ml per gallon, I'd still just run with 12 ml per gallon.
.
After all, SPT is proof big results can come in small packages.....

If you're looking for a more classic "Plant Tonic", the kind of thing where you've got a kind of one-size-fits-all solution to basic vitality or health problems, you need a different product.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with Super Plant Tonic. I'm just saying that if we need a post that explains what it is and isn't there's probably a little misunderstanding stemming from a name that perhaps doesn't really fit, right?

See, when I think "plant tonic" I think of one of those basic all-around boosters that can help a sickly plant recover quicker. A sort of immune booster multi-vitamin thing for plants. Revive is what I use for that (Advanced Nutrients makes it). It works really well for me so you might give it a try if that's the kind of thing you're looking for.

Snafu421.... The Tiger Bloom is a organic based product, not completely organic, but is a decent fert., so I'm not putting it down.
.
Just be aware, unlike most flowering ferts which are alkaline, Tiger Bloom is fairly acidic. When you start applying it, check your soil pH or reservoir pH often to avoid nute lockout.

I just received my first batch of the BMO line...Grow it Green, Flower Power, Super Plant Tonic and Foliar Harmony...and they threw in a free bag of worm castings!

I'm going to give my first applicaiton of Grow it Green and SPT this evening when my plants wake up. They aren't going to know what hit them!
