Need to purchase lights for a 22"w x 48"l x 60"h closet. If I purchase 2 x 150w hps digital external ballasts lights on batwings. http://www.hidhut.com/catalog/150w-hps-ballast-bulb-and-economy-reflector-combo-p-1383.html what kind of heat issues would I forsee. I plan on having a 6"clip fan at least circulating the air and supplying a breeze to sturdy the gals. And I was thinking about adding a 4" inline/ carbon filter for exhaust and smell. All air will be circulated within a 10 x 10 room with fresh air coming into it.

If the hps's won't work or be too hot, how about t5's vs. cfl's. I can fit a 4' x 6 tube t5 in the space required. or I would go with 300-350w max. on the cfl's

Comments or suggestions :bigjoint:

oh yeah, gonna do a sog of autoflowers with the set-up I end up using.
thanks for any help!

I'd go with the two HPS, all of them will generate a lot of heat remote ballasts will help a bit.

What about a single 250? too hot? enough to cover the area 2' x 4'?
I would have a 4" inline w/carbon for the exhaust and passive intake from below from with a 6" clip fan or 2 inside for circulation.

if you go HID in a closet be ready for some serious heat stretch or go ahead and buy an exhaust fan and another for cold air intake and and all the ducting and metal tape and large hose clamps...that clip on will be fine for circulation.or you could used that t5 all by itself and not have to worry about exhuast and intake and heat issues. if decide to go with any type of HID have alot of extra money handy for all the shit your gonna need to keep it cool in there....anyone who says they dont like t5 lights.probably has never used them theyre awesome and very inexpensive and they veg and bloom bulbs.....mine are 6' sunblaze 8 bulb 440 watts.with a 6"circ i can keep my girls 3" from the bulbs and no stretch what so ever....GL

remoteballasted a 150w hps isnt that hot, probably similar to the t5 or less heat.

gives you bigger buds too.

Yeah kinda stuck in this tiny space for the time being. I just didn't want to over kill it, and I think I will go with the t5's for now.
Thanks for your advice.

hey man i think if you can cool the hps then get those. i grew in a closet about 25 inches wide, 52 long and it was about 5-7 ft tall cuz the roof was slanted. i used a 600 watt hps(in the winter time) in the closet with no heat issues, i also didnt use those expensive fans so i used 3 different sized house fans to keep it nice and cool.

so those 2 150's should not be to hard to cool i think even 1 150 is better to flower under then the t5.

I've got a 150 HPS in a small cabinet and it's 4 inches above the tops without burning them. Got a single 6" fan inside blowing on the plants and a 6" exhaust fan. The highest I've seen temps get inside is 86F and that was with the heat on in the room. The small HPS really don't give off that much heat, also mine is a complete system so the ballast is inside. With remote ballasts I doubt you'll have any problems. Never used t5's so can't say anything about them but use what you feel comfortable using. If you do go with HPS in there you're better off with 2 150s than 1 250 IMHO as you can spread the coverage out better and raise one side to accommodate any plants that get significantly taller than the others.

Thanks for the tips guys.
O.K. Fellows here is another bit of info. to my master plan. the 2 150's sound great and of course better. But I tend to grow some autoflowers and keep them no taller than 12". I will mimic what someone else has done on this site, start in 16oz. cups for 1 month then go to 1 a 1 gallon pot, just to be sure to keep under my height of 12".

So would the 150's then be a overkill, and the t5's be just as efficient to what my main goal is? Basically I won't have the issue of light penetration using the t5's because of the the softball sized nuggets I would like to produce. I would love to run a side by side test.

Here is a pic of what the final product I'm hoping to achieve View attachment 1456011. Cute aren't they. Found the pics on the "Autoflower Thread and Resource Guide" thread.

If you're looking to keep them that size you may be better off with t5's because you can combine the spectrums and penetration shouldn't be a problem. And with keeping them small you have a wide array of options for containers. You could purchase 1 gallon pots, but just as easily grow out of household containers such as 2 liter soda bottles, gallon milk jugs, larger juice bottles, etc. It might also be cheaper to purchase small trash cans than one gallon pots. Also, I think you'd be fine keeping them in their final container the whole time, check with people who do a lot more with autos though.

Thanks KawiZZR,

Yeah from what I read if I were to keep them in their final container size, I might run the risk of going over my height. That would be nice and all, but I can only legally have 6 over 12" and 18 under 12". So if 6 go over 12" I'm good. But yeah thanks for your advice and tips brother.

And when I can get a bigger area, I will definately upgrade:)
