TERRIBLE QUESTIONS "What will my Yield be?" "Is this a male?"

If you ask about yield, it will probably be low.
Your yield will depend on numerous factors and asking that question is just not smart.
Many people like to say you can get .5 grams per watt. You may get that, or more, or less. There are too many unknown factors that go into your yield for people to guess how much you will get.

It is a terrible question.

If you see little balls on sticks with no trichomes, then those are male parts.
If you see something that is tulips shaped and has trichomes, that is a female part.

Male parts have no trichomes, female parts do have trichomes.

You know we virgins all want a little handholding.

But seriously, for those of us new to the craft, and even after hours of research and reading, nothing beats getting real opinions from those who have been there before. That's one of the reasons I've started haunting these forums: people like you have great answers to all kinds of questions (many, I wouldn't think of on my own or until after screwing up), and I learn loads. And, for that reason, I'm sure I, and others, will continue to ask stupid questions and hope that folks like you remain patient enough to continue answering. (And on that note, thanks for having chimed in on some of my previous, stupid questions!)

That being said, I am curious about your statement that male plants don't have trichomes. Do the male's leaves simply not have resin glands, or is there just little to no resin expressed?

Gotta start somewhere...I'll take em over the troll threads..Yield questions on a baby plant drive me nuts too tho.

I think most people who ask yield questions are just looking for estamites based on experience. I mean its something you would want to know when first starting out. Knowing how many plants or lights it takes to make an oz or a pound realisticly is not somethign a newbie is going to know. and even countless hours of research are a waste of time when a simple question would get the answers you want that is specific to your situation.
people just starting out have a goal of what they want to produce but no knowledge of what it takes to get there, and without the helpful input of experienced growers its likely they might produce a lot more or a lot less then they want or buy more equipment then they need, or on the flip side not enough.
that being said these 2 questions do get asked to often when there are many threads on it already.

Yep that's pretty lame. I hate it most when somebody who hasn't even put seeds in dirt yet asks. It's the biggest time waster because they have zero plan but then can't accept the answer that try prolly wont yield any.

Think of it this way. If you are about to make a post asking a question, and that question starts with: "Um this may be a dumb question.....but" or " Probably answered this question before...but" If you have to put that in your question, then its a dumb question, Just use the search function in these cases....

Ok, here's a dumb question that I haven't found an answer for.

Does a bud, growing at apx they same height as a much larger cola, have the same potency?

AND

What do you think my yield will be? I'm pretty sure it's a girl.

I'm thinking 3oz of good smoke, and another 1.5oz of shake and popcorn.

The best one I've seen yet was 'Is this a male or a female?' and the plant was dead, and I don't mean mostly dead.. I mean it looks like someone baked it in the sun for 2 months with no water/nutes.. and thought it would be ok.

Another funny one i heard today, " My first grow was going awesome till my friend poisoned my grow because he was jealous how good i was doing on my first grow" OMG this one made me laugh. What a twat!!!!
