Tesla New Model Unveil...

It's not just that. Like I said, he's having problems everywhere. The big automakers are pretty sick and tired of him getting away with playing by a different set of rules than they have to play by.

Texas has just over 1,300 dealerships employing over 100,000 people. It is THEY who are blocking it. After all, if Tesla is allowed to sell cars direct over the internet, then guess what? That's exactly what the other automakers will do and there goes over 100,000 jobs to the people of Texas.

It's the same reason other states are giving him shit as well. It has nothing to do with oil. It has to do with literally hundreds of thousands of people being put out of work if it's allowed to happen.
they need to learn to code......

It's not about that. It's about the law. Why should every automaker on the planet have to have dealerships and service centers to sell cars and Tesla shouldn't?

I know how fangirl you are about all things Tesla, but that's full of shit.

Good ol Texas....
Texas is trying to block Tesla from even servicing its cars in direct sale battle with car dealers.
Tesla has long been having issues selling its cars in Texas due to their direct-sale law and car dealer lobbying effort, but now the automaker’s situation is becoming even more precarious in the state as a new bill that could block them from even servicing their cars is being introduced.

Texas is one of the biggest markets in the US that still completely bans Tesla’s direct sale model.

Texas voted for Trump. Fuck 'em. Republicans are the ones who are such fans of deregulation, but not for autos?

Oregon doesn't have a ban on direct sales and the car dealership business is doing fine. This is all just a red herring. Tesla has already found that existing car dealerships aren't good partners for them. They don't understand the EV market. The don't know how to service Tesla cars. They have had cases where the dealer redirected the customer to conventional autos. Tesla would rather spend money training their own service people, not Ford, Chevy or Toyota's.

If you can't compete, cheat. That's the GOP way.

You really need to pull your head out of your ass. It has NOTHING to do with "big oil".

It has primarily to do with federal and state franchising laws. There is no such thing as a "Ford Owned" dealership. Dealerships are franchises that are independently owned and operated. The dealerships pay money to the automakers in much the same way as a McDonald's franchise does the same thing.

It's been that way since the early 1900's for many things, not just cars. Franchise laws in the vast majority of states strictly forbid manufacturers (of most any product) from selling directly to the public. It's not just cars. It's many, many things.

Try going directly to Honeywell to buy an air conditioning compressor.
Try going directly to General Electric to buy a refrigerator.

It's simply not done.

That's why Tesla built all of those stores to begin with: to sell his cars and batteries. He just figured (because he didn't bother to check, like most things he does) that he could shut them all down and sell over the internet directly.

Then, of course, he found out he couldn't in most states because of the very same franchise laws that forbid anybody else (in MOST cases) from doing the same thing.

Get "big oil" out of your head. They have absolutely nothing on earth to do with it.

EDIT TO ADD: Big oil is regulated by those very same laws. There is no such thing as a Shell owned gas station. They are all franchises. You can't go to Valvoline and buy oil for your oil change. You go to Walmart.

It's just crazy Texans......You cannot even buy a craft beer directly from the brewer in Texas. Craft brewers have to sell there beer to a distributor and buy it back just to server their own beer in their own taps......o_O
Auto dealerships are America's most powerful middlemen
https://www.chron.com/business/texanomics/article/Auto-dealerships-are-the-most-powerful-middlemen-11188891.php
"Three times, Tesla has attempted to persuade the Texas legislature to allow it to sell its electric cars directly to consumers, bypassing the dealerships that current law protects. Three times, following the death of the latest bill last week, it has failed.

And again, at a time when the internet is squeezing out all forms of brokers and middlemen, the more than 16,000 auto dealers in America have proven astonishingly difficult to dislodge.
The way they've done it is no mystery, of course. Originally, car manufacturers operated through franchised dealers as a more convenient way to reach customers. Over time, those dealers started advocating for themselves, winning passage of laws in all 50 states that require automakers to sell through intermediaries — their dealerships.

Now, they're a powerful lobby, as both small business owners in every American city and as large public companies like Houston's own Group 1 Automotive. In the run-up to the 2013 legislative session, according to calculations by the advocacy group Texans for Public Justice, dealership interests spent $2.5 million on campaign contributions and $780,000 on lobbying. Tesla spent less than half that.

Money speaks volumes, even to Texas legislators supposedly committed to free markets and less regulation, as they've already demonstrated this session in requiring craft breweries to sell their product to a distributor and then buy it back before they can serve it in their own taprooms. And in the case of cars, as with beer, consumers lose out. "

Again, franchise laws. And again, it's NOT just Texas.

Funny how you change your tune when proven wrong but somehow manage to keep raging at the same state as if they alone created the law.

You can buy a craft beer directly from the brewer in Cali......why not Texas?
*sigh*

FRANCHISE LAWS. AND IT ISN'T JUST TEXAS!

For the 5th time at least.

You can't buy craft beer direct here in Georgia either. Well, you can but you can't. You can buy a beer at the brewer, but you have to drink it there. And they just passed that law two years ago. Before then, you had to buy it at a store. You still can't buy it from the brewer to take it home. There are several other states with similar laws.

Pal, there are presently 16 states you can NOT buy a Tesla in right now:

Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas.

So why are you ONLY picking on Texas?

What's more, of the states that allow Tesla to sell, these states have put limits on how many stores he can have:

Colorado (1), North Carolina (1), Virginia (2), Georgia (5, but we only have 1 about 20 miles from my house), Maryland (4), New Jersey (4), New York (5), Ohio (3), Pennsylvania (5).

Read more. Fangirl over Tesla less.

Imported car sales slow in Korea on parts shortage, Tesla Model Y becomes top seller
Sales of imported vehicles in South Korea gained a modest 3.5 percent in May compared to a year earlier, with Tesla’s Model Y becoming the best-selling import car after elbowing out Koreans’ long-term favorite Mercedes-Benz E Class models.

Buy a Tesla for your kids future.... If we stop subsidizing the peritoneum industry, gasoline would cost $8.00 a gallon.....fuck the republicans

Speaking of subsidies. "Big corn" and high fructose corn syrup. End subsidies for that shit. In fact end ALL redistributive theft based subsidies for business. Redistribution from one person(s) to another person(s) that isn't done on an individual voluntary basis is theft. Elon Musk built Tesla on stolen money. Send that bitch to Mars in a Tesla!

Buy a Tesla for your kids future? Lol. Hell no! And take that goddamn cell phone away from the lazy little fuckers! Make them pay for their own or they'll end up whiny entitled liberals.

Peritoneum? Were you just talking out your ass?
