TEXAS FLOOD! Hurricane Harvey thread

This plus the long duration since the last major hurricane to hit the area will catch people by surprise. Getting surprised by a category 4 hurricane is a very bad thing.
How the fuck do you get surprised by a hurricane in today's 24/7 news coverage? Darwinism at work, if you procrastinated, maybe you shouldn't survive?

  1. Not everyone is glued to a television.
  2. The hurricane went from a no name storm to a category 4 in less than 72 hours
  3. No one expected it to stall at the coast
  4. Historic and unprecedented rainfall means it's never happened before
  5. It's going to get a lot deeper a lot further inland than people are expecting.
Aren't you being a little harsh?

"Multiple computer models over the last several days have predicted that truly astonishing amounts of rain will fall near and northeast of Harvey’s center, including localized totals above 40” and widespread amounts between 10” and 30”. Unfortunately, the models are still resolute in that diagnosis, and what we know about tropical cyclone behavior only confirms what the models are telling us. " -Dr Jeff Masters, PhD, Weather Underground (emphasis added)

Awwwww Stevie, we hardly knew ye... This video is a third of a century old and it's as relevant today as it was the first time I saw it on Mtv.

Its a category 1, no need to panic, I'm sure its pissed with rain in Texas before this
Hmmmm

It came ashore as a category 4, and you'd know that if you clicked any of the links, stupid.

Maybe you could Google the term 'unprecedented'- but of course you won't, because the classic hallmark of the arrogantly stupid is that they're sure they already know better.

Meanwhile, try to have a little compassion for them.

Unlike the flooding, it can't kill you.

Respect for your concern. We've had floods every ten to twenty years. Category 5 tornado that was strong enough to suck the grass off the dirt. Mexican cartels on our border.

This is Texas. The only state to have kicked another country's a$$. We'll pull together as always. If you're in to catfishing. Now's the time. Live bait. Mudpuppy or baby carp.

mean ass storm.
nat'l weather svc : flooding "beyond anything experienced"
That sounds like a Trump tweet but this ain't fake news.

"only half done now" "once in a thousand year storm"

YOu don't always chose where you live, most people will stay
where they were born and raised. Whats the plan if you lose everything?
Got to have some compassion for these people.
