Not to minimize the tragedy and loss of life, but I wonder what's going to happen to the 100,000 flooded cars down there?

If you had comprehensive on your auto insurance, you're covered and they'll total it.

But they aren't just junking all those cars, somebody's going to try to make a buck and sell them somewhere.

Watch out for reconstructed titles, I guess.

There were a bunch of stories in today's news feed on this.

Basically totaled cars are sold at auction. Some are used for parts, and you will never know if that computer was wet before it was sold to you through a mechanic. Others will eventually get sold as used cars; some with salvage titles, some reconstructed titles (claimed to be repaired and fit to drive), and some under the original title (some states don't require salvage titles).

A service like carfax should id the car as an insurance loss.

All said to RUN away from the sale at any price. You will be chasing failures for the life of the car.

No they never lost power. We did on our entire side of the street but they were fine. I begged them and they were cool with it. Took like 5 hours of loading/unloading but it was better than throwing out all that stuff
Will done! I'm guessing they'll get some free meals...
