The Big Budz (Aurora Indica & Urban poison) Journal

Wazzzzzzzzzzz up

My plan here is provide a journal for complete newbies to follow. This is my first REAL grow where I invested almost $2,000 and have made a lot of mistakes so far, but I've made lots of progress too. :blsmoke::blsmoke::blsmoke:

The first picture show most of my seedlings on their 3rd day. I managed a 100% germination rate (though I don't know how). I have 5 feminized Aurora Indica and 5 feminized Urban Poison and all are currently doing really well. (see picture 3)

The second picture shows a female one of a kind plant named "Fred". I snagged one seed from a dank ass bag I had and grew it along with another unknown strain and this is the only plant that survived my horrific hydroponic experiment.

CURRENTLY the plants are in the 2nd week of vegetation and I finally received the last parts of my purchase. My sun hut, cooltube and can filter are all hooked up and pumping air in and out.

I will post another update tomorrow morning with current pictures.

Feel free to post any comments!

Nirvana. good choice? I do have a serious problem though, I have the cool tube venting out of the top of the tent and it is making the room outside the tent shoot to almost 90 degrees. That includes the vegetation chamber I set up in the closet :( I dont want to cut a hole in the ceiling and the room has a double window that faces the street. ADVICE? I seriously cant even turn on the light after the outside room heats up the intake can only bring in hot air and the tent raises to 90 degress as well :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

So everything is up and running except for the little brackets for the wings on the cooltube. Not vital but I still want them up as soon as possible.

I have 2 435 cfm fans pushing and pulling air through the tent and my temps are averaging...

83 degrees in the vegetation room
84 degrees in the flower room

everyone think this is okay? I know its not perfect but will it do?

1st pic - Fred has A TON of heat stress. Someone ran a red light and destroyed my car so I wasn't here for a couple days and didn't have my fans hooked up. Needless to say he is kinda cooked

2nd pic - Pretty much all of the Aurora Indica's look like this girl. It seems like they are doing really well.

3rd pic - The Urban Poison's are really outgrowing the AI's. I wont lie they are my favorite

4th - GROUP SHOT

Anyone have suggestions on freds recovery? I have cut the nutes to half and spritz him with water every once in a while.

COMMENTS PLEASE!!

it is pretty burned. if it's just from the lights it will have to just grow new nodes and grow out of it. misting them won't hurt, but it won't reverse anything.what ever damage is done, is done. if it is from too much nutes. reduce the stregnth of the nutes maybe about 50%, since the leaves store nutes, going light on the nutes is going to give somwhat of a flushing effect, but still feed her what she needs. if its nute burn i would take it down to 25%, but that's just me. but it is the same as the lights burning the plants; whatever damage is done, is done.
nice babies though. good luck on 'em. i look forward to seeing the finished product!

84 deg. F is not bad at all for a high temperature...a bit less would be better, but 84 is fine.

As far as "Fred" is concerned, I would flush her with straight PH'd water, let dry out from the flushing, then ONLY fresh PH'd water for the next water. Once she dries out again, then start back on nutes at a greatly reduced rate (about a fourth of what you've been giving her) as you don't want to further stress an already overly stressed plant. Back away a bit from the lights as well so she can "rest and recover".

Hopefully you are not adding nutes to those baby plants at this point.

PS - hope you're ok from the accident?

EDIT - ahh - I see where you said Fred burned from HEAT not otherwise. Sorry. I would still flush and baby her for a week or so until new growth looks good. Already damaged leaves will stay that way. New growth s/b just fine.

WHOA!!! man allyou can do is raise your light, and let that baby grow some nodes, and maybe if you see that they are not going to be real producers, just cut those burned fan leaves and flowers off, but that's just me. it will be ok though, these plants can damn near stand up to kryptonite and still come out of it. hell if you read in my thread you will see where i damn near thought i was going to have to kill ALL of my plants because of a pesticide mishap, but when you see the new pics you'll see they bounced back pretty damn good. so yea i think you'll be just fine, just be patient, and don't try to do TOO MUCH to save it, because you might be damaging it more.

Not really much to report. I keep killing the clones I take off of fred. Both the AIs' and the UP's are growing really well. When should I consider FIMing them? I want to FIM 1 plant of each strain to use as mothers for my clones. happy growing!

hey check it out man . how do you clone? if you don't mind me asking. cause something's happening to kill 'em. so yea, just give me your step by step. cause i've seen alot of diffferent cloning styles, and personally i am quite good at not losing 'em.

i've been trying a bunch of different things. I have a hydroponics system made out of a 2 liter bottle (the popular one with plans all over the net) i tried putting one in there.
i always put them in a rapid rooter cube ( that could have something to do with it) I have put them in a rapid rooter and then in FF ocean forest and them put them in a baggie for humidity. LOL what do you do?

The fan responsible for blowing air out of the tent isnt doing as good of a job as the intake. Should I buy a booster fan or switch to a larger fan and create adapters for my 6 inch ducting?

Hi DBB, just had a scan through your journal, $2k is a lot of money but I hope it works out for you. Urban Poison, is that a hybrid of durban poison? Is it more sativa or indica? Would love to give advise on your fans, but I am having trouble just connecting a computer fan up at the moment. Good luck

p.s Fred(erique) may be a better name - this is a girls name and comes from Old German and means "peaceful ruler".

Peace out

well first, is that what genarally works for you? because those rapid rooters only call for regular water. so that may be it. me myself i just bought some rapid rooter plugs, just to see if they are better than rockwool. but my rock solid standard is a dixie cup of coco, with the A-B mixed very lightly, 1/4 teaspoon(that's about 1.2ml) of each in a 1 liter soda bottle. that's what works for me. and in all honesty in the past two and a half years i've probably lost seven or eight clones. but that is only because i found a system that works for me. but yea "I" think that in the beginning you should subject your clone to as "little" nutes as possible.
hey man get you a cup put, some holes in the bottom, fill it with the dirt mix you are using to grow right now, put your clone in it, water it with regular water, put it under your lights and "Go Speed Racer Go".LOL. naw man, i figure you already know that much. just wanted to remind you that sometimes less is more.

P.S. i hope i have some success with these rapid rooters, i'll keep track in my next journal.

This is what nirvana had to say...

100% feminised! Urban Poison is an indoor version of our famous South African strain Durban Poison. We took the Durban Poison and crossed it with Northern Light, after which we back-crossed the resulting hybrid with its parent again. Eventually, we came up with this predominantly Sativa variety which retains an aroma of juniper berries and a trippy high. Structure- and potency-wise, this plant is comparable to modern indoor production strains.

I choose Aurora Indica because I get bouts of insomnia and I need a heavy indica to knock my ass out! But when i smoke to chill and get high I like trippy if you know what I mean. i haven't tried either of these strains before so im hoping they both work out.
