The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Hi - what a life saver of a thread - hopefully someone can guide this old HPS user and anyone looking to get in to this ~Nov/Dec '19.

-Looking to jump straight in and purchase from either Meijiu or Kingbrite, leaning towards Meijiu.
-Overwhelmed by the amount of options/models and don't know much about the technology.
-Want to replace a 600w hps.

At the moment I'm weighing up between what seems like Meijiu's go to plug-n-play 480w options.

Should I go with either of these products?

The EB gen 2s are hella deal atm.
20 2ft strips for a bill!
can u post link?

Yeah unfortunately I haven’t found 3 channel boards on Ali
The UV shouldn't be on constantly, my take on it. And I want the IR to be available during flower constantly, both deep red and far red. But someone I'm talking to about custom DIY builds locally to me right now, uses his UV on at all times, his boards are just dimmed down, and he has them on street signs for heatsinks, they don't look bad(his plants look amazing and fatty). But the price is still more to build them DIY american, than it is to ship them from most chinese suppliers from what I'm seeing. I could really use a lot of input myself. Hes trying to get me to DIY my own, and I still could save money buying them chinese. :wall:

I wonder about this to because I've been wanting to add some strips with uv and ir to my whites but I'm unsure about them being on full time. Thing is though, the sun dont turn these colors of the spectrum off so ???

Ok, don't order from infilite, unless this is customary of the Chinese when ordering baba lights, hes demanding my personal information before the order is even made. Shouldn't it be available to the retailer through the website end and not something I'd want to give to these companies personally? Just seems sketchy AF.

I ordered a Meijui qb288 and it arrived within like 5 days and the light is AMAZING and bright. I'm impressed and will be ordering more in the future.
About to purchase one also - what power plug for the wall did you get? There isn't a selection option so I assume they put one in based on the country its shipping to? I'm trying to ask this currently to the sales rep but her English isn't the best. Also an unbox review on youtube claims the holes weren't tapped for the driver on the one he got and had to do that himself...?

You shouldnt pput the driver on top of the heatsink, unnecessary heat on the sink will lower dioode performance. Are yoouu with Rita? Sometimes easier to send a picture of what you want. The driver comes without a plug from factory. I never bought drivers thru alibaba, frankly i think its a bit usesless as the price is similar as digikey and digikey have an actionable warranty. Sending back to china for warranty service is very expensive and sometimes they wont even do anything. There is 7 years of warranty on meanwells, try to buy only board ant heatsink and buy cabling and driver more locally.

Hey everyone I'm looking at buying 4 qb240 kits from kingbrite or rita. This will be outfitted in my 5x5 tent. I'm looking at the 301b/h 2700k with 660nm 730nm and 385nm
I can get the epistar chips for much cheaper or I can get the cree for a bit more money...
My question is is it worth spending the extra 50-70 dollars to get cree or will there be minimal increases ? Thank you very much.

You should look at the par map and decide for yourself what you believe is better in output. The deep reds from cree seem to be a lot brighter, but I think the par map shows them pushing less par value, so I'm not sure what the scientifically correct answer is there myself.

It's ok to run 660 and far reds all the time. I'd go with 3500k personally, unless your idea is to veg with other lights too. 3k will be way too little veg spectrum for my preferred. And then with the added 660, you're ensuring you're gonna get some good resin production once actually in flower anyways.

I've seen the spectrum charts of the epistar and cree 660nm and yes the cree seems to be the better choice on paper. But is someone actually going to be able to tell a difference potency/yeild wise compared to the epistar chips. Thanks

To me it doesn't look like a good deal to buy seperate? It cost more...

I was meaning to ask, if you get an assembled fixture from Kingbrite with a Meanwell power supply, is it a genuine Meanwell?

I just talked to a grower who said the exact same thing. His plants looked fantastic, frosty as fuck too. It’s true, the sun pumps out full spectrum all day every day. Only difference would be sun heights at dawn and dusk, giving more of the IR ratio than the Red. Uv is on as soon as the sunlight touches those leaves.

That does seem shady as fuck. I just placed an order with kingbrite and the only thing they asked me was if it was ok that I received the 301h’s instead of 301b’s due to them being out of stock. Same price :D
