just thought I'd share my nute recipe in case anyone cares or has somthing to add.

10ml dynagro bloom
4ml " mag-pro
3ml " grow
3ml " pro-tect
4ml cyco zyme (like hygrozyme just a bit cheaper)
8ml bud candy
4ml cyco swell (bud hardener/finish)week 5-7
and theres a good chance purple maxx will be part of this mix in week 6 or 7. then just one week of 0 ppm flush changing water every day till it stays at less than 50 ppm

Dont sweat the end weeks ppm much. Personally, week 6 is the highest PPM (1800) and week 7 is 1350, so I just add water. It goes there by itself. Then for week 8, still adding water, eventually it works its way down. I never change the water in any of my reservoirs, except to dump whatever is left over after the end of week 8.

Flushing in Hydro is a lot less required than in soil, soil takes longer for nutrients to get to plants so they stop feeding them earlier is all. You could go 1000ppm all the way to the end and see no better results, which is why flushing is done, its just cheaper.

I'll try a side-by-side starting next week I think to see how plants taste/look flushed/unflushed since the next harvest is stretched among two separate reservoirs and ~100 plants. I've done it with and without before, but never a side-by-side same genetics and all.

Now that's my opinion, everyone elses varies a bit. Nobody is really right or wrong, just two different ways is all. :) :)

yeah miss kitty I've done it both eay a couple times and never been able to tell any differance. ubt i do like to save a weeks worth of nute. also running the ppm's down to the 0 range help me ensure there are no left over nutes for the next round.

Do you reuse your hydroton? if so how do you wash such a large amount? Or do you just buy it by the pallet LOL

Actually........ :) Always reuse Hydroton. Its just baked clay. It doesnt break down or go bad. It will need rinsing to get any roots or salt buildups after every harvest.

I'm beta testing a Hydroton Washing machine for a friend who works at the hydro store. They knew I used the most Hydroton so they asked me lol...... They got it in as a sample with feedback requested on it. I'm not allowed to show how it works of photos. But, it's basically a bucket with a pump that you put in a 55 gallon rez with water in and water out that showers it after it soaks up full for a bit. The water coming out of the pump looks like dark brown gunk. Its very effective so far, uses about 50 gallons of the res to wash 5 bags of Hydroton each time. I dont know what its supposed to cost, but I dont think it could be over $100. There's a few improvements I will be suggesting, mostly how to keep the pumps clean and allow for multiple hose input sizes even garden hoses.

A pallet is (30) 50L bags. I should have done that, I keep buying 8 or 10 bags at a time and I still need another 20 I think :) :)

Before this washing unit, I would fill a bath tub and shower it and soak it to clean it. Took a little while, and its ground level so the back hurts from it.

awesome job... looks great

and purple maxx... definitely give it a go, i like to use as foliar spray and mainly use before the 6th week of flower- i use from the 3rd to 6th week and spray just before lights turn off
-some people like to add to reservoir, some foliar feed
-really brings out the purple and seems to add so many more trichomes

cant wait to see the finished product...

Dont know if you can but will you go into a bit more detail as to how this thing works. is the pump(water/air) in the bucket or res? does it just circulate the water around a bucket full of hydrton? I really need a effiecent way to wash all this shit, you know

Picture a 55 gallon reservoir, empty. Inside it sits a 1 gallon bucket with a pump and a pvc line that drains to whatever you want (sink, hose output, whatever). On the top of the rez, that also braces to the buckets PVC, is a pvc style square shower head that sprinkles water down. I just plug in a garden hose to it. Water in, dirty water out. You let the rez fill so all the loose particles drop to the bottom. Then turn on the pump and empty it all out, then let it stay on and rinse with new fresh water.

The bucket with the output water pump on it has a ton of holes so that water and junk goes in but not Hydroton. Pump also has a cage around it so nothing sinks through, but not permeable enough where small rocks will penetrate, they will just stay in the bucket instead since they cant get out of that either with positive pressure.

Uses 100 gallons of water to wash 55 gallons of Hydroton. Pretty good I think.

Its the same thing as me filling a bathtub, except a hell of a lot more automated lol........ You can DIY at home too it'd just take a medium amount of work cutting and drilling holes is all.

I think i get what your talking about sounds easy enough. I usualy just fill a kiddie pool and skim what ever float off the top then pump out the dirty water and repeat once. works pretty good

UPDATE PICS
heres a few shoots of my mendo purps they are looking steller nugs are almost the size of a lighter already. The canopy is nice and full with a bounty of buds sticking thru. After i topped them there are now 3-4 nice little colas per plant, which in another month of growth will fill out nicely.

Then we have the "other side" which has been a bit of a disapointment fromthe begining. The SGA are some seriously streachy bastards, theres about 3-4 inches between nodes. The buds are develuping just fine but the upper leafs are steadily show signs of over fertilizing with some leaf cupping, the ppms are around 1200 and I'm adding 10 gallons of pure water every 3rd day. Clearly the stadium style is much better suited for a indica domanant strain which will stay short and bushy. Sucks cause i had doubts about running two strains for these reasons and I was right Its hard to keep 3 differnt plant types happy in the same enviroment, oh well next time it will be all mendo's

That room is looking like it's going to turn out some nice bud Duke. Shuld be a solid amount of it too by the looks of things.

Vey nice work.

I agree with you on the stretch being a bit excessive. I had that happen in my vert recently to some plants that sat on the floor in there for a week before I could get their new home ready. I Supercropped them once they were moved to their tent and now I hope for the best, you know?

any ideas on what to do with the leaf cup/curl of the super grape apes? All i can think of is they cant take as strong of nutes as the mendo's but i'm not running 'em that hot anyways only about 1200ppm. At the next res change I'm gonna run a day of just ph'd water to flush and hope that fixes them. I dont really want to drop the nutes much cause the mendos can take upwards of 15-1600 wiht no problems so i dont wantto starve them, you know. What do you think???

i dunno shit about hydro but this chart says early flowering should be 1000-1200 ppm maybe amp the apes down to 1k.

Seedlings/Clones: 400-600ppm
Early Veg: 600-800ppm
Late Veg: 800-1000ppm
Early Flowering: 1000-1200ppm
Mid Flowering: 1200-1400ppm
Late Flowering: 800-1200ppm

You might get an answer before I can find mine but I'll look through my notes to see what I did to correct a problem I had where the leaves looked almost identical to yours. Only thing I see that looks like any over nuting is at the very tips of those leaves. Could be too high PPM but could also just be a feeding schedule thing. I'll get back on here when I get home and can check into it but hopefully you get an answer before then because it could be this evening before I can get the info and I'm sure you'd like to know asap. Drives me crazy when I can't figure out a problem and haunts me until I get it handled.

hey dez you home yet???

I was thinking of flushing tonight and starting back up with 1000ppm. Also I was reading around and saw that sometimes the leaves will cup like that if there to dry. My Rh is between 30-50 but there is a fan blowing straight onto that area, thinking that it might be drying them out , as its only the leaves that are out in the open and really exposed to the fans air flow. IDK WE'll see I'll move the fan too
