The eye in the sky, can they see me?

As a home inspector that has used an IR gun on heating ducts, to estimate loss of air, etc... Since you are familiar with these guns could you please explain what happens when you point it at a shiny surface?

Did you look at the photographs in the grow room in their picture? Does that just look like a piece of the stuff hanging from the ceiling of the grow room? Would the exact same thing happen to mylar if you shot it with an IR gun?

You seem really amped up on this product at $80.00 per roll. Maybe your a market rep, maybe you have something to gain by advertising this product, I dont know... However, I do know the advertising there is deceptive but looks really cool to the untrained observer.

There are many gimmicky items on the market that you can waste your money on. And if you have enough money to put up a 6000+ watt setup then go nuts and buy insulated mylar... However, if you are some poor guy who has got a 250W lamp in a closet in his garage has far better things to spend his money on than this product. And I dont gain anything by saying that.

There is too much confusing information on IR and FLIR in the growing community because it looks cool on TV...

Peace...

during the day depending on the color of your shingles on your roof you can have what is called Solar Loading which means the sun is loading heat into your shingles... I used a IR camera for several years as my job and actually got my training at FLIR near Boston Mass... anyway a 250W op isnt creating enough heat to draw attention... with it in the garage a car just driven and parked in the garage would creat a khot spot greater then the 250W lamp... Those cameras can see a hand print on a wall just from a quick slap BTW...

I used the camera on High Voltage powerlines as that was my job...

No NLX I don't sell anything for anyone. And as far as aiming it at something shiny it depends on the percent of "shiny". If your material is 50% reflective that means 50% passes through.
I do have deep pockets though as you suggested some might, as do most of the growers I know. The large ops all use reflector hoods, cool tubes and serious ventilation. The small growers I know usually just spread the heat through out the home, as you and I both suggested.

I will also agree there is a lot of bull shit info out there about FLIR and IR, thats why I posted those vids, so people can actually know what things look like and then you can decide the most efficient way of handling the problem.
