I generally clean and oil my reels and the brakes/brake cylinder. Well the ones I'm able to at least. Costs 35$ and Shimano will clean and oil your rig, plus fix whatever you need. Takes like a week. Worth it imo.

All mine get sent out to Shimano as well. I send in the middle of December and have them back by 2nd week of January all like new.

Yeah i admit it, i’ve taken mine in more than a few times too lol. There’s a shop down in Sacramento that does it.
But on a typical bank fishing day, i’ll drop some oil on the spool bearings a few times. Really helps when casting lighter weight. Like say 1.5 oz.

Lol 1.5oz light weight?! I'm sometimes bouncing 7grams. Lol usually 5/8th to 7/8 tho heavier current MAYBE 1.5OZ.
I like to send to shimano direct, because they know their shit.

Yeah, it’s light. But in these low flow years lately it’s more like a 1/2 oz.
REALLY helps then too
and again, i’m talking trying to cast as far as possible in these rivers

I never change my brakes. One on. That's it. If I'm going super light MAYBE I'll turn on 2
Heavy (1oz+) and long bomb I'll turn em all off.
I've been casting baitcaster since I was 17. So over 20yrs. I only own 1 real true spinning reel and that's technically the wife's reel. Oh well NM. Ultralight panfish and Ice I use ul spinning. I'm a liar

Nah. I control the cast with my thumb. It's truly second nature to me now.
Sometimes I'll run 2 opposing like you said. (Windy) But generally not. Just one on is enough

Never had an issue with balance or anything like that. It's just causing a bit of friction on the spool to slow it down a tad. Nice tip is to clean your brakes with alcohol, then take the little blue top lube Shimano gives you. Put ONE DROP on a q-tip and dab the tip of the actual brake, then one soft swirl around the brake cylinder.Me to but i always thought only one on isn’t balanced.

I cast for muskie, beside 50guys shoulder to shoulder. There's been fisticuffs. Salmon on the pier, bouncing for trout ..... Unfortunately now a days it's 'cool" to post pics of fish on instagram so there's a million dinks trying to get their clout. The internet ruined fishing, and fishing spots.

It sure did! I had a bunch of my holes burned from a forum called the Fishsniffer. The forum is no longer active. I used to post on there but not fucking spots!

Loose lips sink ships. Haven't fished my spots in years. Kids camp out there. I'm an old man. I have a wife, and grow rooms. I haven't the time to sleep in a hammock on the river to get the spot. Pisses me off. But what can I do. I just find other spots and keep em quiet. Eventually someone will see me there, and it'll be blown up too. But again what can I do.
Almost fought a group of kids from Toronto one time. They rick rolled me on my spot, showing up after sunup when I'd been there hours previous. When I told them to fuck off one of them tried to get tough with me. That's when my buddies heard and all came out asking if there's a problem. Ha. His tone changed fast when there was a group of guys double his age ready to throw. Worse part they were fishing for and constantly catching oos Lakers. #1 Lakers are gross.
#2 they were oos.
They even had go pros on rec themselves catching oos fish like it was some kind of feat.
