The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

Wrong. You know not what you don't know, lol.

And I actually prefer fishing my regular way off the bottom with a little trick I learned from a master. Sitting in a chair with a beer, :bigjoint:.
Ive fly fished. Boring. Too many elitist dicks. It's a USA thing anyways. Can always tell the Americans here. 1. They're spay or fly fishing 2 they aren't catching anything.
Let us Canucks show you how to swing a centerpin.

I've probably caught thousands of stocked trout on powerbait since it came out . Rainbows and Brookies mostly , Browns here and there . The past few years I've switched to Gamakatsu size #10 circle hooks , the majority get hooked in the jaw instead of ass deep now .
With stocked fish it didn’t matter to me as they went home . Circle hooks are the way for releasing no doubt but it took me awhile to stop setting the hook and just reel down on fish. Little different than my usual bass eyecrosser set lol

Jj- I haven't been following this thread for long but when I did a search I found you have been bite by the Musky bug. Once infected there is no going back. Have you by chance fished the Manitou lake chain south of Dryden Ont. ?

Don't you people know when it's that damn cold you trade in fishin poles for rifles? I hunt when it's that cold out, way more meat per calorie expenditure. Nice fish, but there's nothing wrong with fly fishing. I tried it, but it wasn't my thing. The knots and small hooks were just too much for my big mitts. I still think it's cool for someone to catch a big fish on light tackle though. I have some good redneck buddies that do it so their not all blue bloods.

Decent pics. I don't take many pics. I have no need to brag. The shot of the Brown is nice. But a 21 pound King is nothing to brag about. I've caught way bigger.

And those fish you say are Rainbows look like Steelhead and Silver Salmon, not Rainbows.

Nice Brown though.

Oh man. I'm not getting into it with you. A 21 lb king in the middle of summer on Lake Ontario is def a good catch. I've also caught much bigger. Anywho. Rainbows are steelhead man. Theyre just big rainbows. They go into the lake then come into the river. Still a rainbow. We don't even have silver salmon so ya. I've fished here since I was a kid and am heavily involved in the community. Just cause you catch dinky doos and never seen a big boy before. Pretty sure I know what I'm catching. Any fisherman has pics. Or it ain't true.

Steelhead..rainbows. Whatever. They aren't going into saltwater. Just deep lake water. Some stay in the river all summer long. Big debate round here on what's a 'steelhead' or not lol
I’m here to talk shit about that one again. Here if its a bow in a waterway unobstructed to the ocean, it’s considered a steelhead for regulation purposes.

Rivers on the west here will use steelhead for broodstock. If any ol bow would be ok to release with the hopes of being anadromous(steelhead) they would do that. Those same steelhead stocked into lakes, yes they do that here, are way better looking than your typical stocker bow. Using Steelhead for the broodstock is also a good idea for diversity for sure though don’t get me wrong.

btw, i only use powerbait on stockers in lakes from the bank for some fun. Rainbow glitter for the win every single time. Fuck power eggs. I’m talking grape size ball of PB.

I've always wanted to try fly fishing tarpon and bonefish. I have an Army buddy in Naples, FL and he's gone out a couple times and swears it's a helluva rush. I've met all types hunting and fishing, rich and poor. I don't judge them on how they do it, just that they like doing it. Like I do. I started out with a bamboo pole and moved up to an Ugly Stick until I bought my first custom graphite rod with my summer job cash. It's all about time outside to me now and meat in the freezer when I'm hunting. I get it as far as rude snobby assholes, I've just never had to deal with any on the water luckily. I fished a lot of small backwater that's a bitch to get to.
