The French Cannoli` Hash Thread

Damn brownbearbauer - big ups! Nice finish with a vibrant sheen, good choice in strains also. Looking forward to seeing some of your future work with single strain extractions Cheers!

Frenchy, if rolling the hash into a ball for curing is it better to use your hands, or roll the ball on a plate or other flat surface? Just wondering what you would recommend for trying to get a total smooth/crack-less surface.
Good question snap, first you roll it in your hand until total smoothness and then you roll it on a flat metal surface to give it the shine. You will have at the end a Nepalese (Replace with name of strain used) Royal Temple Ball which is/was legendary.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Definitely going to let it cure out, I'm excited to watch the process. My friend is a big hash fan, but he wouldn't listen to me when I tried to explain the importance of your methods Frenchy. This was some full melt that he'd kept as ice wax for months. We wagered the rest of it that he would prefer the end results. I think we're going to blow his mind once it's cured... Thanks for the tip on the temple balls too, only reason I didn't make a cannoli is because I kept screwing it up. I think I need a larger amount to play with!

Was it too sticky that you could not roll the cannoli? When that is the case put it in the fridge for a few minutes before you crack the plastic and roll it and even like that it gets messy with the creme de la creme as you can see with the Timewreck, the creamiest cannoli is a mess.
Anyway your choice is real good my friend, I do both to tell the truth or make a ball after curing if I want to age. Let us know how it goes with your friend.

Mo in the good old days it came in all shapes (disk, surfboard, fingers, snake, balls, to name a few) and colors. We are talking here about hand pressed hashish, a very rare commodity at the best of times and now we may start a renewal and come back to higher standards.
Without higher standards there are no higher forms of art

67 pages in a night - still was shorter than the mainlining one hehe - and a first attempt at hand pressing with some blond "polm" from morocco, turned the original piece into a much gooey-er darker product, will try the same sitting in the sun tomorrow with the rest of unpressed polm.

Can't wait to harvest, thanks a lot frenchy, thread is dope!

Please clean your metal better than I did before you do the nepalese ball. I will be wiping with alcohol next time, just very minute vegetable matter. I used my raw rolling tray and a mason jar lid. Turned out well though! Starting the 4 week cure today.

Met a guy from Nepal a few nights back, he left Nepal 2 months back. We had a good chat about hash in general. He only made charas (and had the callouses to prove it), never sifting or IWE...he said why would I do that when I can just go outside and rub a few plants and hand press. It seemed where he lived there was always an abundance of plants growing (with stalks as thick as his waist). I was really interested about the Nepalese Royal Temple Balls. He knew of them but said that they make only fingers where he was. Was a very interesting chat/smoke I had with him, as well as rare to meet someone like him where I am.

Brownbear...gorgeous artwork there.

Hi happy smokers,

I received 900g of ( second class ) trim and thought I could make some tests like :

- trim / frozen trim
- 3 times 20 minutes bottle press / 3 times ( 5 min in oven at 230F (110C) + 20 minutes bottle press )

What do you like to test ?

Have a nice day :)

Yes Bear Cleanliness is next to Godliness but it will not change the quality of your hash. Technically speaking the outer layer is the "wrapper", with the Nepalese temple balls that outer shell is quite hard.

Nepal is mostly a Charas country because of the climate and the level of humidity. Cannabis is/was growing all over and when away from civilization (easy enough in Nepal) there is plants in abundance but NOT with a man waist size stalk. If the guy was not extremely tiny there is as little exaggeration here. You got some big plants in the Himalayas but no trees like plants
This is a view of one of my favorites place in India the Malana Valley looking toward the Parvati, both valleys very high on Charas connoisseurs list.
cannabis grow wild all over this side of the Himalayas (i bet the Chinese side too) and the average size of wild plants is basically what you can see in this picture

It would be very helpful especially the frozen and non frozen trims, don't get me wrong the decarb experiment is sweet but you would need lab test to really get deep. The look/texture/smell would give you some answers but to really know if your decarb is successful you need to test.
Thanks for bringing data to share my friend, very appreciated. This is a learning thread as much for me as it is for you all.

Hi all,

will be done :)

don't get me wrong
No I don't :)

will not be possible here :(

The look/texture/smell would give you some answers but to really know if your decarb is successful you need to test.
Agree :) I will try two pressing methods anyway to see if there's any perceptible difference in look/texture/smell.

Just don't know which 2 methdods : more heat ( reach the 220F ), longer press, shorter press ...

Thanks for bringing data to share my friend, very appreciated. This is a learning thread as much for me as it is for you all.

I am working this morning on some more Pinot Noir, I just pressed some hashish that was worth sharing.
This mostly from the 70 microns bag second wash with 25% or so from the 45 microns. CA does wait for his trichomes to be totally and perfectly ripe.
This a perfect example of the pretty palette of colors Hashish has to offer to the dedicated. Enjoy

Hi Frenchy,

again amazing pics !

One question before I forget ( again ( and again ) ) : do you try to press your cannolies as thin as possible ? or not really ?

on hash colors :
