If wherever you are located has a store that caters to marine aquariums, go check it out. Many of these stores sell used chillers at a GREATLY reduced cost in lieu of buying a new one online. You can also check marine forums for clubs in your area - that is always an easy source for used chillers.

i recently got a viaAqua cc-25b 1/5hp chiller for $370. I was getting SICK of those damn frozen bottles!:cuss:

The chiller only cools when the temp set point is not met so the pump has to be running 24/7

-I may have to tap into the units power and sneak a relay that goes to the pump?

Or

-I could put the chiller and the pump on a timer that tells them both to come on when the light are on?

Does anyone know of a better way to make this more efficient?

Buy a chiller controller, and plug a surge protector into it. Then plug your pump and chiller into the strip.
