Heres my girl, first off I am effing proud of my girl for enduring such drama but here she is... I obviously had zero cash so I used 3-23watt CFL's, 1-9watt ftube, a 4-inch computer fan, miracle grow soil, miracle grow plant food, tap water, a closet, some mylar wrapping paper.

hey jumbo ive been looking for a really cheap and simple way to provide co2 for my future plants and i found a thread where a guy mentioned he foliage feeds his plants with selzter water so they can get there co2. any comments if that works?

THIS IS WHAT THE GUY SAID:

" Yeah I was prob foliar spraying to much. Couple times a day sometimes. I was doing it cuz the humidity is terrible but oh well. I pretty much stopped that already and I have been watering way less now. Today I got seltzer water that I put in my 2 oz spray bottle that sprays really fine mist. So I will hit them with that once a day or so. Maybe every other day. That way they get the CO2. Also when I do that on plants that have grown up a bit I will include weak nutrients with the seltzer water. "

i have never heard of this? but it sounds very interesting, in theory it should work great. i would make sure that the seltzer doesnt have any addatives like sugar. and that you dont burn you plants with the lights being to close, or cause moisture stress/mold.

Hmm. Does it have enough growth sites to be moved into flower? As I was LSTing it today, I noticed some sort of bulbish growths in the higher joints. Still very tiny. Possible signs of pre-flower? Means it could be male? I wouldn't know.

Since I just started experimenting with LST on it, I may let it acclimate to the two tie downs I put on it, and see what it looks like in a week. Hmm.

haha hell yeah manyclouds.. thats true ghetto style right there with nothing to spend for the grow..

but yeah man thats pretty much a perfect lst right there.. how it should be done, which actually reminds me cause I gotta fix mine up a bit around the base of the stem. Idk about the water though cause as he said there might be add things to it that might actually hurt your plants if sprayed on.. I mean you can open the bottle and just set it inside your grow room and the co2 will dissipate from the water in time, releasing co2 to the air... theres other methods of doing it and I'll look for the thread for you. But basically its sugar water and yeast in a bottle then a small tube like thing on top and itll release co2 gradually as its made, good way to go with that as Ive seen a lot of growth in other journals from it.. or baking soda and vinegar a few times.. hahaha

actually now that I think of it.. the water might only just have the co2 in it and thats all if you get the pure seltzer waters, just double check... itd be something to experiment with though for sure... always try something new

yea the sugar, yeist method works pretty good!
but with a grow space like mine,(a big open room about 24x17x7) it would take MASS amounts to make a difference to the plants. fresh air is alot more reasonable then 10-15 2 litter bottles replaced every few days lol

and yea thats wut i wus thinking about the seltzer. the O2 might not disapate into the air?? deffinatly a future experiment though =]
only downfall i can think of is after week 3 or so of flowering you cant foliar feed any more or you will run into mold/bud rot.

ok well in my oceanography class this year, we were testing the acidity of the water and how to change it. and a way to change it is to add more OH- ions to it... or CO2 through all the reactions and other stuff..... anyways, one way we tried to change the acidity was to take a straw and either blow hard through it into the water from our mouth or from a bag filled with co2.. it actually worked in dropping the pH level. but after some time like a few hours, it balanced itself out to become neutral again.. meaning the CO2 left from the water and blah blah blah.. so it would work.. just not sure how well compared to other methods.

and yeah as jumbo said.. just have a fan going and get fresh air circulating around.. nothing better really.. you could add the bottles if you want to or not for maybe a little extra. your grow, your choice
