The Philosophy of Nihilism

Awesome read! I tend to describe myself as an agnostic nihilist to people which confuses the shit out of them. There might a being greater than us out there, but I have no way of knowing and have seen nothing that makes me believe it, so I have to assume life has no intrinsic purpose and I'm not guided by anything for now.

Bro, you are guided by you! This to me, is a most astounding realization that provides me with a sense of extreme freedom. I think your outlook, is very intelligent. Mad props goes out to you for accepting the absurdity of existence... yet still having enough courage to give it your own meaning and purpose. Fuckin right, ill burn this one for you! +Rep Dax the Man

You are far too kind, if such a thing exists among tokers, but thank you! I find your insight and outlook on life equally intelligent and insightful if not more so. I always look forward to seeing a post with your name on it.

I hope that one you burned served you well and further promotes unique and groundbreaking thought.

Existence is extremely absurd in many ways. I once argued the point to someone they couldn't actually prove anything was real or happening because of how susceptible our senses are to being "tricked" or "fooled" and therefore he could not truly know anything was certainly true or false. I think I broke his brain, as usual with most closed minded Christians that can't understand something he screamed at me unintelligible nonsense about going to hell and stormed off, I laughed and went about my day. Noone ever gives me a good philosophical discussion anymore (outside of here).

I personaly am not a direct nihilist, but i do find a transparancey to everything to the point that this life is very dreamlike.Dose the universe exist purposefully?Or is it out of spontanuity that it simply is.I think the latter.I may have said this before in another post, for purpose to be,there must be a giver of purpose or a proponent of directional intent. The Universe itself,I feel as if it were much to large to be confined to simply having purpose,It just is.We have purpose as a facet of our mind, its built into the human mind from our observation of everything around us having a seeming functionality, but it just isnt necessarily so,that all things exist with a given purpose if with any.Purpose can be equated to ones perspective tendencies.I see purpose as purely optional and subjective at that.We dont know where the Universe came from, dose it matter? If u seek the answer then yes.But if You seek answers to a question that relies greatly on subjective thought, then you will have scarcely any chance of hard fact to be realized from it.The better way is to not look for such an answer,to be as the universe is,exist and be present.Just be comfortable with yourself utterly. The mind is your gateway to freedom, you have to realize where to find the keys right?HAHAHA,enough of my ranting!

Many people spend great effort trying to determine what nihilism is, and it often seems perplexing because it is such a radically different viewpoint and mindset. Belief systems and ideologies are defined by what they are and what they value but nihilism is more defined by what isn’t, it’s about an absence rather than a presence. Nihilism is absence of faith, absence of teleology, lack of God, and so on. That’s why I’ve always said Nihilism is where you go when you can’t find anything to believe in. All that’s left are the inescapable natural forces and that which is self-evident or verifiable.
