I'm a bum too. I had a lil bit of money saved up into gold and silver but was laid off in 09. I regretfully had to sell most of it, though I was waiting for gold to hit 1500 first. Goddamn and silver is so expensive, it's gonna cost me 4x as much to replace the complete set of silver dollars I had purchased soon before being laid off.

I never had a problem looking for jobs in the past but it's getting harder everyday. Even with all the medical licenses marijuana use isn't acceptable to companies so I still have to cheat those, but that hasn't even happened yet. I have been bombarded with spam and bullshit job adds that mislead you into thinking your applying for a job when your really giving information to shady businesses or people. At first I went around looking for applications, everytime I was told everything is online and many applications are tedious and I hate those damn questionaires with a passion. Anyways good luck out there, times sure have changedd over the last decade haven't they?

no kidding, right?

i used to trade up on jobs all the time. one time i had to move out of state to a worse market but still traded up on a job and was getting paid pretty decent.

i was not scared at all when i got laid off. i didn't even apply for unemployment until after 3 weeks, that was how long it took to realize how bad it was out there.

it's gotten a lot better, and it continues to get better, but still pretty rough.

good luck to you my friend!

I am a Land Surveyor by trade. Good job, good money. Housing market tanked. Got laid off. Got called back but am lucky to work 1 day/month. 2 1/2 years I've been seeking employment. I'm either over or underqualified according to most. So I've survived. Thatks to my wife's income, side jobs, and unemployment.

I CAN'T FIND A JOB TO SAVE MY LIFE!!! all these yrs of experience and education don't mean shit when you have a felony on your record. And the crime always look worst on paper than what it really was. Mines say "Drug Trafficking/Possession of handgun" In reality i had 8 nickel bags (probably didn't even equal to a half oz) and my registered 9mm inside my car and i was parked in front of my own home (first and only time ever being arrested). But what kill me is i be real honest when i go to job interviews and i try to explain to them my situation up front so we don't waste each other time and they always say its not a problem and they make me take a long ass assessment test for the job then they get the score and be like "You scored great.. Once we get your background check in you can start working" 1 week later they call me saying "unfortunately due to your background check we will not be able to hire you" Well now when the student loan people call and want to know why i haven't made a payment i use the same line "unfortunately due to my background check your loan doesn't mean shit" Its fucking crazy how one incident on your background check can change your fucking future. Luckily i make some side money working on cars and have a loving fiancée that understand i'm trying but its damn near impossible. FUCK THE SYSTEM!!!

PS.
thanks for letting me vent.. now i gotta smoke another joint lol :-)

I started working at a nissan shop when I was in high school. Once I finished high school I started working at a subaru shop and spent 6 years there. I then became ill and had to stop working! 7 surgeries later (still more to come) I am no longer working! I really felt like a bum for a while! Due to "preexisting conditions" I was unable to get health insurance when I started working at subaru. I had over 400k in medical bills and was only 24. I was dropped by my doctors because I couldn't pay them. I applied for social security (at age 24) and was accepted right away! I really felt like a bum! After working so hard, to become a drain on society, it was the worst! I started growing for my self because I couldn't afford pot or prescription meds or anything else for that matter! went from making 3200 a month to 1100 a month (That only covered rent water power where I was) so I had to move! After all the bad though there is some good! I met a girl (an RN W/BSN) that is amazing! We moved in together (I moved into her house) and are talking about getting married! I got over the feeling like a bum part only after a couple of my doctors said dont feel bad the system was put in place for people like me! So now I OWN THAT SHIT! Not even half way to retirement age and already drawing social security with medicare parts A and B! (still dream of turning a wrench almost every night though! how I wish I could go back!)

I feel ya man, I am 25 - Medically retired for now. Every 18 months I get re-evaluated.

So for now I have no reason to work, and if I do I am sure it will effect my disability %.

Sitting on RIU for hours a day really makes me feel bummy!
Trying to invest my free time into a business for my wife. I thought growing weed again would take some of my free time up, but really growing MMJ does not take alot of work ha ha.
everyone wants to retire young!!! we found one way to do it!

I love my nurse/wife/babys' mama. Without her I would be a lump of dough and all hopped up on OCs. Instead I am ripped and dope free. Just smoke a little weed. :)

Motto of the day:

Seize nothing.

I came.
I sat.
I smoked.
Any one got the Latin for that?
