Obviously venting out the house isn't an option?
Because that would solve the temp issue.

And yeah, if the filters not rated higher than the fan then it's not doing its job fully.. it could be the humidity spikes when the lights go off and filters dont perform as well in higher humidity.
Have you looked at what's available second hand?

I got a 10" rhino pro for £50 a while back, which I use in my basement set up.
It said used for one run, the pre filter was like new so I took a chance they weren't lying .
My carbon filter only does 580m3/hour

whereas my carbon filter fan (rhino fan) does 760m3/hour

Maybe I've got my fan too high and it can't scrub the smell in time?

But what's weird is the smell isn't leaking out right now. It's only when the lights are off or sometimes it randomly does it when the lights are on, but it stinks more when the lights are off.

Nah I can't vent out the house. It would look too dodgy with ducting sticking out the window. And the ducting hose keeps leaking smell randomly which would end up being dumped outside and all my neighbours would all smell it outside and grass me in. My neighbours are do gooders. They gang stalk me and watch everything I do. They have grassed me up in the past to the feds and I nearly got busted. I can't take that risk.

Even in the daytime when the humidity is at a constant humidity it randomly leaks out at random times. It's almost like the filter gets overwhelmed and can't keep up with the smell. Going back a week or two ago there was no smell at all leaking out. But now all of a sudden it's leaking out randomly and I haven't changed the fan speed or anything.

Yeah I've had a look at second hand stuff on ebay but Even if I got a bigger fan and filter it would be impossible for me to take the old filter out of the tent and get a new one in. The whole tent is filled with rock hard dense buds and last time I took a plant out the plant couldn't support it's self and about 2 or 3 branches flopped towards the ground and snapped so getting a bigger filter in the tent is out of the equation because I wouldn't be able to get inside the tent to swap it out.

I just need some ideas to get rid of the smell. I'm going to buy some ona gel today and some air fresheners to try and mask the smell a bit. Maybe I could hook a carbon filter onto the end of the ducting hose? Maybe that would prevent the smell from leaking out of the end of the ducting?

A ozone generator might be worth a look at for smell?
Ozone is bad news around your crop it destroys organic molecules afaik but it was used for smell the silver bullet ozone generator went in the exhaust ducting iirc.

Silver bullet generators at the time were expensive but I got a Ozone generator 2yrs back for £25 they're not expensive now

Ain't ozone generators dangerous tho if I'm sleeping in the same room as the ozone generator? I heard they can affect your airways and stuff

I've got an old rhino pro filter. I wonder if I strapped that to the end of the ducting would that help scrub the air better and prevent the smell from leaking out?

sorry bud, ignore that I was overlooking you're venting into the room, yes ozone is bad for health.

Is covering the window an option?

Depending on what's involved in your situation you could maybe box the window on the inside and have the ducting connected out of eye shot, on the outside it would or should appear as normal?

The only problem with that is I think my carbon filter is getting overwhelmed with the smell and if I hang the ducting out of the window the smell will go outside because smell keeps randomly leaking out of the end of the ducting hose. Do you know if I connect a carbon filter to the end of the ducting to prevent the smell from leaking out of the end of the hose will it affect the negative air pressure inside of the tent and make things worse than what they already are?

You build a window box with a fan ideally into the window if your going that way however you not got a loft or something with a vent you can patch into or something ? On a side note if you think they stink now don't ever grow any skunk or true kushes or afghans cos those proper reek ime

Yeah any filters add drag I'm afraid it might be ok then again if your system is struggling probably not gonna be enough for it to take full effect remember even having bends causes drag in a ideal world you want it straight as possible with only as many bends etc as U need

Nah dude it's impossible for me to do that. I am on a ground floor with neighbours above and yeah lol I probably won't grow any stinky strains again it causes too much paranoia lol

Your neighbours not so friendly? Lol when I first started I had no fans no carbon filters fuckall just a light n a wee desk fan for airflow and some black n white plastic on the walls you could smell it three streets away I'm just lucky those around me for the most part are sound it could be worse many started with repurposed street lights stole of lampposts you don't see that happening anymore lol

Nah lol they are really straight people, they don't smoke or drink or anything lol I wish I could get away with having smell stink out the street lol

I might have to give it a go if it gets any worse and see if having a carbon filter on the end of my ducting helps
