The US government is officially a laughing stock.

Trump is considering pardoning himself.

Here's the thing: Pardoning himself will save him from prosecution, but will absolutely assure his impeachment. As impeachment is a political action, not a criminal one, he can't protect himself from impeachment. And to pardon himself for criminal wrongdoing, he would have to admit what he did wrong, thus immediately giving Mueller the answer to the questions he needs to answer to recommend impeachment, and once that's done, Trump would have totally forfeited any defense he has to retain the presidency. He would effectively be handing the Special Counsel and the Congressional Investigation his resignation via the evidence they need to impeach him.

Game. Set. Match.

Fuck, yeah!

By the way, for anyone out there afraid of whoever is next in line, if they are also guilty of conspiring with him, they would then be guilty of the same wrongdoing Trump would be impeached for, and thus, would also forfeit their chance at the presidency.

They are all so guilty. President hatch? Or give it to Hillary?

Civics lesson for all the bots and russian trolls. No capitalization for trolls or bots, that would be an insult to genuine freethinking Russian people.

If Trump blew his brains out in the Oval Office..would it be orange?
I dunno, but I'd be totally cool with that. I'd even declare it a holiday.

"Tyrant's Day." We can celebrate it by burning him in effigy and celebrating the liberation of the American People each year. We can dress people up as orange clowns and throw tomatoes at them. They have to be Republicans though.

Well impeachment would be assured but removal from office is more involved. It would be unprecedented and the destabilizing effect on the gov't would be very hard to predict. In other words I won't be tearing my eyes away from the next episode of The Donald Show.

We'll be fine. Better than we have been in the last 6 months, comparatively. And involved or not, if the evidence assures his impeachment, it will definitely lead to his removal, even if it takes a few months longer.

I tend to agree. It has never happened before. It wouldn't be like with Clinton. He was successfully impeached but his approval ratings actually improved, leading to the dear old slogan "better blowjobs than no jobs". It didn't matter that he was censured, his influence over the political system was immense.

Nixon resigned to avoid impeachment and Ford was then after remembered as a dumb ass. This should be interesting.

Right, I get it's unprecedented. I'm just saying.

In any case, I'm just fucking ecstatic over all this shit. Maybe we can reverse Sessions' policies while we're at it, too.

The only way this could get more rich is if Melania very divorces him and all of his children disown him while Congress finally officially denounces him.

Imagine if he did though. Of course impeachment is already being sought. A sitting president can't be a criminal defendant but even if he's impeached and subsequently removed from office, then we get to test the validity of the presidential pardon. I guess it would be up to the next administration to pursue that.

I think the worst case scenario would be if he pardons himself and then nothing happens.
