I grow in coco but with autos i start in pot that I’m gonna finish in (no transplanting), I like to top early ( around the 15 day mark) if it’s thriving. I let them grow and just do a little bowl training to keep canopy as even as possible. Imo I believe if you defo or trim at the right time then they bounce back very quick. I do mine same time as I do photos, soon as stretch stops. I do some right before flip with photos also but autos I might take one here and there if they are thriving but just one or two at a time. I like to wait till they stop with stretch to do most everything with my autos. Everyone has different methods to get to same place and lots of different methods work great, you just have to find what works for you and dial it in. Personally coco was the best thing to ever happen to me lol. It’s more work if you don’t have auto watering setup and a reservoir but you control everything the plants get and their root system loves coco with all the oxygen it stores in it. I hope this info might help, best of luck to you.
