I always use plain roots as my base (once they're beyond seedlings)
So does it still have thrips or any other bugs? I have fungas nats right now, I do the azamax drench and they go away until I use sugars and then they are right back, just a fuckin pain in the ass and I dont need anymore pests.

Light warrior is primarily Mycro, BB, Peate Moss, and perlite. Very little EWC, no Guano or bone meal. It is designed for starting seeds its not "hot" at all, rather frigid when it comes to NPK. I would use Ocean Forest or at least Happy Frog.
I think you miss understood, I will try to be clearer...I used the mix of
OCEAN forest and light warrior mixede 3-1 as a base. I added 50lbs of ewc, guano bone meal blood meal etc.(super soil ingredients)

In the past weve done some doosies but these days were just trying to keep up with stock
Plus most of the freebies I see offered are scrap seeds and we dont really have anything like that.

If we can keep em stocked I'm happy hehe

Now that I think about it, I bought The Third Dimension. Attitude gave me 1 DNA's Lemon Skunk, 1 Dinafem's Cloud #9, and 1 Dinafem's Sweet Deep Grapefruit.

3D and Lemon Skunk were my favorite, but Cloud #9 had the most enjoyable high.

2009 was so long ago

I've started mixing my own, not exactly as super-soil though.
Perlite, peat moss, plus a few other amenities. Been working well for me.
I liked FF for a while, it just got too hard to find around here, so I quit and made my own.

I have been using FF for awhile but have been looking at all of the alternatives. This time I am running all my girls in TGA Supersoil, premixed bags. Got to drive 2 hours there and 2 more back, but I do what I gotta do to keep them happy lol. I am trying hard to get a few shops to get TGA Supersoil in there so I don't have to drive so far. On another note, my Qush seeds JUST arrived! Guess what I am germinating next? 2 Boss Hogg freebees also came. I have given away 3 packs of those and looks like another to give away lol. Peace.

I've found no connection other than posts on other boards about FF being sold.
No connection between FF, Scott's and Monsanto besides this.

Hello ******,

Thanks for contacting FoxFarm with your concern. No, FoxFarm has no parent or partner company. The rumors you may have heard are simply that – just rumors. Basically, Scott’s published a statement several months ago that they were interested in buying small soil and fertilizer companies that focus on hydro stores and independently-owned garden centers. This allows Scott’s to enter a market that normally they wouldn’t be accepted in. FoxFarm happens to be a company that sells exclusively to both hydro stores and independently-owned garden centers. So, when this article came out, we became a target. We know that there are rumors circulating that we are one of the companies that Scott’s is buying, essentially tarnishing our reputation as a small, family-run business and giving our competition an extra foot in the door to market their products. As I said, these are all just rumors; FoxFarm has not sold to nor has any plans to sell to Scott’s, Monsanto, or anyone. We will continue to make the highest quality soils and fertilizers available, and we will continue to be a small, family-run operation.

Thanks again for your concern and interest in FoxFarm, ******. Please let us know if we can help in any other way. Have a great day!

Fungus gnats no thrips but I get those whether it's roots or anything else and as long as I'm not leaving standing water around it doesn't end up being more than a few. They need a lot of moisture to get out of control. If you're really concerned about it you can always bake your soil first or treat it. A few fungus gnats isn't worth worrying about IMO they don't damage the plants and they're pretty easy to deal with. Thrips is another issue I've never had those from roots or anything else -- thrips and aphids (something i have had before not from roots) are easily wiped out by lady bugs. A lot of bug soil issues are more related to how the soil is stored before it gets to you than coming with the soil from the maker... and if that's the case it won't matter what brand you purchase but which store you get it from.

Good to hear foxfarm isn't monsanto owned... those people at the very least are total assholes. Even if you're not concerned about the GM issue they fuck over a lot of independent farmers who don't even grow their products. I don't use foxfarm though because it has (at least for me in the past) tended to cause overwatering symptoms much more easily than roots... it's a much heavier mix than roots except for the light warrior, which is too light IMO, it has the opposite problem -- won't hold water for shit. Roots for me is just right... roots + airpots = overwatering impossible.

I was under the impression that the fungas nat larva feed on or damage the roots of the plant. Also I just potted 2 plants in 4 gallons of pure SS with no buffer and I been hand watering coco coir everyday for so long that im gonna have to get used to the watering regimen of the soil, but im just gonna lift my pots, and hopefully it wont be an issue. I also transplanted from 1gal air pots into the 4 gal regular square pots of SS, the root masses were fuckin ridiculous and i reinoculated the fuck out of it, thats why I figured they could handle pure SS. We shall see.

thanks for the clear up, im still going to keep an eye on those tricky fuckers and stick to inoculating the roots....
I'm not going to use them either, but I'd rather people have the correct information.
If I am wrong I hope someone shows me up.

Just made it back from the Dank Tank. After seeing Jynx had his own shop on the nerd I made the hour trek to throw some money at him. He gave me a super sweet deal too. Way cheaper than any other head shops around. Thought I would snap a pic before I christened her with some Space Dawg.

Was also a great chance to donate a little cash to the school of dank.
