No...the media was just pretty much asking a lot of corporations about their views...and most companies say ok people can do whatever, now buy our stuff...but not Chick-Fil-A...they said that as a Christian company they had to let people know their stand against gay marriage...

My question is why do we care what the people running fast food chains care about a political issue..

Disagree. One person is espousing a bigoted view, suggesting that a group of people should not be afforded the same rights and privelages as the rest of us, and the other person is pointing out that bigotry.

So yes, one IS worse than the other.

Would you be OK with Kaendar espousing a view that women should not be allowed to work and vote?

Well when compared with what kaendar has said in the past I wouldn't be surprised to hear it...
It would bother me, but what does kaendar have to do with anything that has to do with my right to vote or work..who is he to say I can't..
So I wouldn't get too worried about it...
Just like I don't see why we care what a chicken salesman has to say about anything but chicken...

Equal rights? This is what ppl dont understand. Marriage is not meant to be an equal right for just anyone. So no, nobody is being bigoted because they dont want the thousands of years old definition of marriage changed to accommodate an alternative lifestyle group.

It is kaendar's right to have whatever view he has...there is nothing that says I can't hope he sees the light and peacefulness that could be achieved if we worked together as humans instead of against each other as individuals, but since the majority of people aren't geared to truly be empathetic to each other most of the time..then I guess we have to learn to all get along without trodding on each other.

It is one thing for the owner of Chik-fil-A to state his anti-gay marriage opinions.

It's another thing when that same person is funneling millions of dollars in to organizations who's stated purpose is to squash gay rights and their ability to marry.

If Kaendar owned a successful chain of chicken joints, and had millions of dollars to influence politics in this country and suppress your rights as a female ..... would you care then?

Well marriage is a right of any hetero couple that isn't of a immediate blood relation..
It should be a right of anyone..
Not the religious bull crap part of the ceremony...but where your state allows you to get the benefits of marriage, financially, and to be able to give any children raised in the union a chance to have healthcare and what not...
I don't believe in religious weddings...and would never get married in a church for that reason...But marriage still has a few tax perks that there is no reason that gays should have to miss out on...

And again I know my state is against gay marriage, but they just had people vote on it again not too long ago...and that second vote against gay marriage took away benefits from a lot of people...
Let's say that John married susan and had 2 kids, but John and susan were never happy so they split..and then John met Carl and they get along great, and John can't imagine his life without Carl, and perhaps John got the kids when he and Susan split...so the kids are attached to Carl as well...so this somewhat strange family is living and doing their own thing...perhaps Carl has a better job than John, so John stays home with the kids while Carl works...
Well now John and his kids can't be covered under Carl's insurance because they aren't qualifying family members...even though they have been living as a family unit for years..

Bullshit. Marriage is more than a stupid ceremony performed in a church. Marriage affords couples certain things that being single cannot.

How would you feel knowing that if you passed away your wife would be entitled to NOTHING that you've worked so hard to accumulate over your lifetime together?

If a church does not want to perform marriage ceremonies for gay couples, then that's on them. That's their right. But the GOVERNMENT should have no business in deciding which consenting adults get to be married, and which ones don't.

When republicans do the same thing - attacking unions because thats where a lot of money comes from that goes to democrts, I believe it is wrong. If these people are actually protesting an individual - a person and taking it out on a whole group of people who work there and have families to feed too. I believe it is just as wrong. They should go to the guys house with their protest and knock door to door and tell his neighbors about him.

Agreed. It's none of my business what people choose to do, or who they choose to marry, so long as what they are doing does not cause harm to others, and it's between two consenting adults.

I'm always shocked to see marijuana smokers who are against gay marriage. The government telling us as individuals what we can, or cannot put in to our bodies is very similar to the government telling people who they are, and aren't allowed to marry.

they donate millions of dollars to groups that support "kill the gys" bills in other countries, which is their right.

so people that naturally disagree with "kill the gays" being a good thing protest, as is their right.
