I get it now- a hps (sodium) killer


Cree pretty much has this as a high bay light. Good price, too

Have you thought about a dimmer?

I've thought for both the (available) common industrial applications of the 3000K CXA3070 Z4 and for the dimmer ...
You 're not paying attention!
(Yeah,it's like I do ...LOL ! )
Of course there's a dimmer !
Common for all four chips ...( of course ...)
With lower current limit threshold adjust ,also ..
My settings will be 350mA -1950mA ( ~50 to 300 Watt in total ,as 'humble' operating range .....)


The best part ...
This light is cheaper or about at the same price range ,as a good Digi ballast-reflector-hps combo.....But ....Different ...
A 'Killer' one ...As you -correctly- mentioned ...

Specially designed to unleash sunshine to a 3x3 area ...
And beat the s..iiiit ..out of any melting Sodium 'heater' ...
That's all ...

Forget leds ,here ...
It's High intensity Diode ..
One diode ...
A big one ...
Almost 10 kgs heavy ...

That's pretty much what I'm thinking..

I like the idea of making them hid style with a lot of light density to see what these can do...makes for a easier comparison and less fixtures per area. I'd like to see these develop into 1000w equivalents that can grow a tree

Yes,that in fact is the idea,behind this type of led utilisation ...

Sometimes fate's blows are given under the waist ....


a) Hall-sensors use electromagnetism to 'sense' electrical current changes ...
'-magnetism'....translates immediately into 'noise' in real life ....
So ...For my set (high ) standards of accurancy and ease of operation/service hall sensors ,
will never be used again with steel /ferromagnetic alloy cases /parts ...
Noise becomes the dominating 'sensing ' value ....
No way,never -again ...
Hall sensoring ,needs Tupperware or similar plastic case ,in order to show some acceptable accurancy ...

Hall -sensor kisses everybody ,good-bye...

b ) The awesome Sunon MagLev Fans ....
They just refuse to operate under PWM ...
They stand still...
Not even a buzz ..
Nothin'...

I've to research it further ,before giving up the idea of auto PWM control of the fans ..
I really like the idea of the closed loop feedback /temperature based control ...
Me ,just adjusting the light power pot ....Fans adjust by themselves ,to average Tc ...
Oh,please ...It has to be a solution there ...


c ) I'm fortelling a new arduino shield ...

So ..
Until a solution will 'show up ' ,Arduino returns in it's
'initial' operational purpose : Tc monitor & Active thermal protection via SSR .

I've made some stupid changes to display also ....
A bar-graph ,for "quick-glance" Tc checking...

( 25°-75° C bar-graph range )

A short vid ...(used an old lcd screen ..)
I've set the Arduino to switch off the leds in case of Tc >= 75°C
Bar graph starts at 25C (far left ) to 75 C (far right ) ...
Line at the middle is 50C ...
( That's my 'general & ideal Tc operatiomal upper limit ...50 C ,no more than that ...No matter if @350mA or @1950mA ..)

I think that's the final "form" and 'operation" ..
(Till further notice,of course ...LOL...)

(Isn't cool that lcd inverts ,if any Tc goes more than 75C ? I find it cool feature... )
Enjoy..Playing around with a joint and four thermistor sensors ...

A LM2576 switching regulator ...
I've one pcb ready to operate ,already.
Tested it ,the fans liked it ...
Thing is space ..
One more pcb added ..

Almost same size ,with the CV PSU ,the PS-45-15 ..
