Thoughts on the pros and cons of letting a crop run longer than usual?

the main thing is your nice tastes turn into basic black hash terps and you will also end up with super mongy buds.

There’s definitely a point of degradation. I’ve let plenty cultivars go beyond the “window” many times out of pure laziness. Also have harvested at different times same plant. The effects of potency is definitely speculative without lab test which I have never done but I can assure you taste is dramatically compromised when left too long. Those terpenes take a big hit after that windows starts closing.
Yea that’s the biggest factor I’ve found if left too long. They lose their magical aroma and that’s a theme thru many strains.

This trait seems very pronounced in autoflowers

yeah, I may end up calling it at 10 weeks this time as I want to wrap up and get things shut-down and incognito/hidden so I can have contractors in the house. That may derail the experiment but 8 weeks has passed, they look nice and fat but haven't checked for any amber yet or any of that jazz.

Probably let them set for at least a few more water-only cycles a few days apart and then start the harvesting process.

Would be interesting to see controlled scientific studies that looked into this - the commercial grows aren't interested enough to be funding that research though. :bigjoint:
