You can get food grade OMRI listed citric acid or a premixed product like Nuke Em which is OMRI and approved for use on commercial cannabis. They even list their batch test lab reports if you're concerned about contaminates.

"We will continue to make sure that our ingredient suppliers are held to the highest standards by having each Nuke Em batch laboratory tested before it is bottled. This testing verifies that Nuke Em is free of 59 adverse chemicals and chemical compounds along with yeast, bacteria and mold. To identify which chemicals we test for, simply click here and look at the lab tests. http://www.flyingskull.net/Nuke-Em-Batch-Lab-Reports.html"

You guys can play with bugs all you want. If you want to get rid of those thrips you'll need to spray something that kills them on contact. Unleashing a bunch of ladybugs is not going to achieve as good of results and will not eliminate the thrips.
a mix of the following predators will sort the problem out but the damage is already done.

Amblyseius swirskii

Amblyseius cucumeris

Imho the risk of mold is massive using and spray at this stage and the plant will still have residue at harvest, predators like above and not lady bugs nonsense

jesus christ on a bike, how did you not notice these until this stage, the only thing you can do is add shit loads of predators and fingers crossed, they will work but its the damage the thrips cause shitting everywhere and the potential of mold due to their shitting etc.
Lol having a baby and seeing them thinking they won’t be a issue as I have had them before but never this bad. I have innovative solutions oxidizer in the room does a pretty good job killing mold. We shall see just unleashed a shit ton of lady bugs, have predator mites as well en route, going to hit medium with nematodes later today

I've had great success with lady bugs. I understand different people have higher or lower standards and that's fine with me. I also know that I hold my herb to a standard far higher than commercial cannabis growers do. Because I am growing on a smaller scale, and not trying to maximize profits I am able to. Also, the same people who are approving these products for commercial cannabis are approving all sorts of terrible chemicals for growing all of our crops. I don't want to Nuke my plants, doesn't sound like something I'd want to smoke later. Also, the lady bugs lay babies who stay babies for a long time and those babies eat thrips like I used to eat smacks, and since I reuse my coco they keep me free from thrips. You say lady bugs won't get rid of thrips but I can assure you they have for me before. Happy growing!

Thrips you attack from the soil...the plant and from the air....they have a 30 day life cycle and you have to be unrelenting.

Aerial...Sprays. Jadam wetting agent will melt them...
Benny Bugs...cucumeris flies eat thrips

Soil... Nemotodes and Hyostasis mites

Plant Swarskis

And spray every 3 days... You might beat them.

I went to a time release sprayer and they never came back. Thrips are all over outside where i live so IPM forever.
Time release sprayer? Like in your fertigation watering system ?

I wasn't making a joke about them pooping on your plants. Where do people think they're going to crap up all these thrips you're hoping they'll eat? I don't think you can train them to use the toilet. A few sprays of a citric acid based product will take care of them. That should make for some good smoke of the highest standards.

In my opinion, given the small buds and the density of your infestation I would start over. The damage is done and your end product is already comprised to the point I wouldn’t smoke it or use for anything other than a compost pile. What’s more important is moving forward and how you can prevent this again by adopting a proper IPM program that can prevent this. Pests are just some of many problems we can come across and have to be ready to attack before the issues gets out of control like this. I feel for your losses.

I spend good $$ on worm poop every year, this actually just made my day knowing they might add a little extra to my organics lol Also, I imagine most of this ends up on the leafs/ coco / and side of my tents since I never really see them on the buds.

Man that sucks … not only a problem now but you are going have to clean like nobody’s business and change subtrate material.

Have you done any IPM on this grow ?

At this early flower with such huge infestation you are just waiting for plants to herm in next couple of weeks. You either spray them with something which kill them instantly and at the end you will wash your buds with hope you can pass the tests or make hash. Ladybugs are just ridiculous nonsense and citric acid wont help neither. Your setup looks serious so do not waste time on stupid ideas which cause you more troubles than help.

Ridiculous Nonsense? The only reason they are in the Americas is because they were sent here to eat aphids. NASA Sent them to space to see how the aphids would try and get away... like I think if it's good for NASA and has worked for years and years, I wouldn't call it nonsense.

He has thrips thats one thing, you would need milions maybe bilions of ladybugs to do something and than you end up with botritys because of their excrements taking place on your buds. In practice they can eat like 1-2 thrips per day. I have seen them going on the leaf, literally trip over the thrip, fallen down into the saucer and than die in small water drop laying on their back. Another thing is you either grow serious or nah :bigjoint:

I've had good IRL personal experience with lady bugs. It's not the full grown adults that do the most killing it's the pupas but I have a feeling you already know everything you need to know about this subject and I don't need to convince you Snickerpus. Anyway, what works for me may not work for you. Every grow is different isn't it :)

There is nothing ridiculous about citric acid. It's the active ingredient in several well known commercial products that are proven to work. I just wiped out some aphid colonies on some roses in my yard with a single application of citric acid solution I mixed. It's a contact killer to soft bodied insects like thrips and aphids. It can cause some damage to the foliage but I've never experienced anything other than some very minor damage which was better than having bugs all over my plants. I've been using it for years. You may want to do some additional research on its use as an insecticide before saying it won't help. I've used it and it's definitely works. There's also several scientific studies that have been done that show it's effectiveness.

Now that they are eradicated i usually run it one week a month.

But if i see one on a blue sticky... (blue sticky traps work best for thrips but you can get a bunch on a yellow one too)
