Um...who said that Colorado banned CCW? I happen to know 2 people who *just* got thier CCW permits...and no, they are not law enforcement, prison guards or soldiers...plain old civilians. One is a woman.
There are only a *few* places you cannot bring your loaded weapon to and Colorado is still an 'open carry' state. After Obama gets done spewing more laws we won't be, however. Then only true outlaws will have them.

All this talk about body armor, center mass is all BS too. I have yet to see someone with bullet proof knees, eyes or a bullet proof forehead. Some shooters *are* that good (esp with a laser) to put a bullet in either eye socket. ;)

Yes, the tradegdy could have been prevented in a number of ways, but evil, twisted vermin will always find a way to harm innocent people with anything, regardless of what you do. You cannot always stop evil people, but you minimize the death toll they inflict on others by a well placed shot to thier head. :)

Colorado, like California took away their citizens rights to carry concealed weapons years ago and adopted state laws to issue permits. Technically, I'm allowed to apply for a CW permit here in California, but even the county sheriffs department admits there is no chance in hell of obtaining it.

Being of mostly left of center, I take this as a personal affront. Being left does not make one unaware of safety issues, and as matter of fact, I am ex military and have a concealed carry permit. Having been in a combat area, I am well aware of what gunshot wounds look like and what trauma they place on the human body. I am not opposed to those with sound minds carrying weapons. It has been well proven that carry laws reduce violent crimes. Although I have a permit, I seldom carry in summer as the heat prevents clothing that would be comfortable and concealable, IE shorts and a "T" shirt. sometimes I carry a weapon in my vehicle if going into a high crimes area, something I try to avoid.. I guess what I'm trying to say is unless you carry at all times regardless of your personal comfort, your chance of confronting any crazies is very small, and since I'm not paranoid enough to give up my personal comfort, my chances of being a hero are very slim...

Very good observation. The finest firearm in the world becomes absolutely useless unless it is in your possession. i don't take my comfort that seriously.

I think the "may issue" rules will be struck down eventually. It is absurd that some county bureaucrat gets to decide whether you have a constitutional right based on his own personal whim.

do you actually think you could defend against the US military, An AR 15 against a helicopter gun ship????? I doubt it. I don't get why the liberals want to take away our weapons, as you so espouse, if they really do, then I am against that tenet of liberalism. I thought being liberal would mean giving more liberties, not removing them, but anyway that is the way the right always argues. Remember, it was the right wing (Nixon, McCarthy) wing of the republican party that started the war on drugs. Do you actually believe the same right wing based faction of the party would like to give you more liberties??

The gun grabs come from the government, Libs and Cons alike. "Liberal" and "Conservative" don't mean much in today's politics.

As for could i hold off the military? Of course not. Even with many like-minded brothers it would be a nearly if not completely impossible task. What it really comes down to is that i will die on my feet before i live on my knees. It's a numbers game. In that situation, if every gun owner that were being robbed of their possessions could simply take two agents/soldiers with him, the numbers are not in the governments favor imo.

The military in Egypt is not with or for the people, the Egyptian military is owned by and working for the US, the millitary is opressing the people of Egypt, the uprising was a trick to make the people of Egypt feel they were acomplishing something, it was propaganda.

It is refreshing to see other like minded individuals who understand that not everyone is obsessed with being armed, but just want to defend themselves and their families. Personally i feel it is my responsibility to protect my friends and family from any would be violent criminals and gladly own a .40 for this reason. There are many more stories on people saving the day with the concealed weapons than there are mass murdering individuals. unfortunately the murderers have shock value added to there cause and that is why so many ignorant individuals speak out against this instead of embracing it. If everyone were education on firearms and more honest citizens were packing then we would have much less of these pansy ass criminals looking to take advantage of nice people. They are looking for easy targets, don't let yourself become one.

I served for 5 years and i can tell you we DID things that we would never support and morally outrages me. Most of the enlisted personel are simply sheep that repeat what their up chain of command say even if it contradicts their own personal values. Are you not familiar with Nazi's and how many of them did not want anything to do with the war but were forced at the hand of their government? I don't see a revolution similar to the Civil War popping up at anytime, but i can assure you anything the citizens of this country own would not fend off what i used to train with. We simply do not have the bottomless budget of the US military.
